BRING ME THE HORIZON

SURPRISE RELEASE OF NEW ALBUM
POST HUMAN: NeX GEn

Welcome to NeX GEn…the wait is finally over.    The hottest British rock band on the planet have released their highly anticipated new album NeX GEn via Sony/RCA.  NeX GEn is the latest chapter in the series to be revealed and sees the band expanding both musically and conceptually.  Following on from 2020’s POST HUMAN: Survival Horror – which featured collaborations with YUNGBLUD, Nova Twins, BABYMETAL and Evanescence’s Amy Lee, and includes the huge hit singles Teardrops and Obey.   Sonically the album hits heavy, whilst frontman Oli’s vocals are his most melodic to date.

Bring Me The Horizon entered 2024 with an explosive start having played to over 140,000 fans in the UK & Ireland on their biggest UK arena tour to date, winning the BRIT Award for Best Alternative/Rock Act, announcing their first stadium show in São Paulo, Brazil and now the surprise release of their new album, which has already caused a global frenzy since appearing online last week.

There is so much to unwrap under the surface of the album for those who can spot it.  “It’s a real concept album, with a full narrative that connects to the first record, but the concept is hidden and buried,” he says. “Some people aren’t going to be interested, but for some people it could be like a self-help book. There’s a lot of things in there, some of it’s quite clear, but a lot of it cryptic and hidden. People are gonna have to work it out.”  Not that Bring Me The Horizon are looking backward. As ever, NeX GEn is the work of a band unafraid to challenge both themselves and the musical world in which they have become leaders

PAUL WELLER

RELEASES NEW ALBUM 66 VIA POLYDOR RECORDS

In the ever-evolving landscape of contemporary music, few artists possess the enduring influence and innovative spirit of Paul Weller. A recording career that began in 1977 now takes in the release of his 17th solo album and his 28th in total.  Weller has always demonstrated an unwavering commitment to pushing artistic boundaries while staying true to his roots. “66” promises to be no exception, offering a captivating journey through his continuing musical evolution.

As the title and artwork by Sir Peter Blake (his first for Weller since 1995’s Stanley Road) indicates, Paul Weller’s new album marks the completion of his 66th journey around the sun and is released on May 24th – the day before his 66th birthday.  “66” is quite a reflective and inward thinking album that pulls back the camera lens and shines a light on the way Weller’s creativity interacts with his wider world.

The 12 songs on “66” were worked up in Weller’s Black Barn studio over the course of three years with a host of guest musicians.  In the recent past, Paul has been an enthusiastic collaborator, but “66” feels like the most fully-realised celebration of that process. Here, there are lyrical contributions from an esteemed roll-call including Suggs, Noel Gallagher and Bobby Gillespie (“Ship Of Fools”, “Jumble Queen” and “Soul Wondering” respectively).  Paul and his band have also just completed a hugely successful sold out tour – so if you missed that, try and catch him in the Autumn.

IMAGINE DRAGONS

REVEAL NEW SINGLE ‘NICE TO MEET YOU

GRAMMY®-winning, multi-Platinum band Imagine Dragons share “Nice to Meet You”, the third single in the lead up to their highly anticipated upcoming album “LOOM”, out June 28. The propulsive funk-pop track is an upbeat retelling of the foibles and beauty that comes in the beginning stages of a relationship.

The band has also revealed an accompanying music video for the track, directed by longtime band collaborator Matt Eastin. Set amid the nostalgic ambiance of a retro bar, the video captures the magnetic first encounter (or is it?) of lead-singer Dan Reynolds and a new love interest.  Earlier this month, Imagine Dragons also joined forces with multi-Latin GRAMMY award winner and global superstar J Balvin to share a new version of their hit single “Eyes Closed” (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope) and accompanying collaborative music video.

Imagine Dragons’ forthcoming sixth studio album LOOM (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope/Universal Music Canada) is set for release on June 28th. The new album represents the pinnacle of the band’s artistic journey of self-discovery and marks the best body of work they’ve ever made. LOOM, produced entirely by Imagine Dragons and their longtime collaborators Mattman and Robin, finds the perfect balance between the classic sounds that have made them superstars and the freshness that brought them joy in the studio. Featuring 9 brand new tracks including hit single “Eyes Closed”, LOOM signifies new beginnings on the horizon – the excitement for a new day, moments yet to come.

CIAN DUCROT

SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘SOMETHING I CAN’T AFFORD

Sometimes the best songs emerge fully formed, and that’s particularly true of writers who wear their heart in their songs like the billion-streamed UK and Ireland #1 artist Cian Ducrot. Only a month ago he wrote ‘Something I Can’t Afford’ and soon started posting teasers which captured fans’ imagination, resulting in 6 million views in just two weeks as well as huge demand when he offered a demo of the track. This week he shares the official version of ‘Something I Can’t Afford’, marking a rapid turnaround from writing and recording to virality and release.

The song’s emotions are laid bare for all to see from its very first lyric, with Cian softly singing, “Why are we fighting? You’re all I have, can we just put our troubles to bed and leave it at that?” And the honesty of his words is surely why ‘Something I Can’t Afford’ is striking a chord with fans everywhere. A little conflict with the people we love and spend so much of our time with is only natural… but so too is quickly regretting the argument and realising how pointless it was.  The heightened emotions of ‘Something I Can’t Afford’ are amplified by its sparse arrangement, with little added to the production beyond its lead vocal, acoustic guitar, and layered backing harmonies. The song was entirely written, produced, recorded and mixed by Cian.

Having achieved so much with his debut album ‘Victory’ (two Top 20 hits, one certified Platinum and another Gold, and winning the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year), Cian recently took his first step into a fresh era with the single ‘Here It Is’. There will be more news on that soon, but next comes Cian’s biggest year of touring to date.
