SPACEY JANE AUSTRALIAN INDIE POPSTERS AT MANCHESTER O2 RITZ 8TH FEBRUARY 2023

Billy Seagrave headed into Manchester’s O2 Ritz, to experience Australian favourites Spacey Jane deliver a power stomping display of indie rock, for All Music Magazine.

Delores Forever have crafted their own sound within a pocket of this indie scene. A sonic shelter for anyone who, like them, feels things intensely. With EP ‘Conversations with Friends’ on the way and a beautiful set of singles having been released in the lead up, Dolores Forever, backed by this unstoppable momentum, are set to ascend.

“Passionate pop culture connoisseurs with potential aplenty.” – The Line of Best Fit

The band are already making huge waves, having only played a handful shows, securing a debut at Glastonbury Festival las year. Melding infectious pop with indie and a touch of folk, the band are made up of close friends Hannah Wilson (from Yorkshire) and Julia Fabrin (from Copenhagen) who connected over their love of Mitski, Sharon Van Etten, Stevie Nicks, the Spice Girls, and everything in between. They’re sure to be one of the breakout acts of the year.

Spacey Jane graced the stage at Manchester O2 Ritz, and it was magnetic. The atmosphere was delightful as everyone waited in anticipation for the band to appear. The music venue was packed full of fans and the support act Dolores Forever thoroughly warmed up the crowd.

Spacey Jane are an Australian indie rock band from Fremantle, which formed in 2016. The group consists of Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu (guitar), Caleb Harper (vocals, guitar), Kieran Lama (drums) and, since 2019, Peppa Lane (bass guitar).

This was a new experience for me two bands I had not heard of before, judging by the amount of people filling the venue, I am sure they will deliver. The Australian band wasted no time in getting stuck in, with their high energy stage presence – Spacey Jane were stomping around and thrashing their instruments that the crowd loved. They deliver carefree, indie-rock tracks. Spreading an infectious joy throughout the crowd, with a positive energy, that they exude so easily to the receptive crowd. They are very comfortable in their delivery, and easily transfer from foot stomping delivery to more laid back and acoustic tracks. It is clear that they have a passion, one that they push out to the crowd, which is returned readily by a crowd here to enjoy.

With a stream of gigs and festivals already on the horizon this year, the support and adulation given to them back in Australia, is sure to grow and this year they become another of those over sea’s acts that are firmly placed on our music radar.
