A dynamic group in the world of Acoustic Pop and Rock, Gypsy Star are spinning magic within their enchanting and uplifting musical compositions. Led by the captivating and creative spirit of lead guitarist and composer Billy Keen who seamlessly blends his own roots in American Rock, Folk and Jazz with World music influences, Gypsy Star is a gifted musical collective. Dominated by Spanish, Celtic and Latin flavors together with sounds of the Caribbean and the Middle East, this dazzling and talented band has an unparalleled mystical character, charming and spellbinding their audiences with their vocal and instrumental fusions.
The band features the soul-stirring vocal prowess of lead singer Belinda Brodsky who also adds keyboards and hand percussion. She beautifully complements Keen’s instrumentalism and compositions with poetic lyricism, capturing the true essence and mystique of Gypsy Star.
Keen and Brodsky’s powerful vocals and classical flamenco guitar use are completed by bandmate and dancer, Kimara Lee, who is featured performing in folkloric and gypsy style dance creating another dimension to their live shows. She also adds vocal harmonies and percussion to their sound. Rounding out the band is bassist Rich Clemenson, whose striking performance on bass guitar enhances the rhythmic foundation of Gypsy Star.
Gypsy Star have recorded and released 3 albums, including the 2007 album “Gypsy Star”, the 2011 release “Once In A Dream” and their 2017 album “Under The Moonlit Night” along with a holiday single In 2014 titled “The Tale of The Mistletoe” and their newest single “Far Beyond My Wildest Dreams” released in July of 2021.
With live performances and appearances on numerous television and radio programs in the Tampa Bay region, Gypsy Star have become a powerful multi-genre force in the Florida music scene.
They have also headlined at numerous shows at the Palladium Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL; Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida; the Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland, RI; Andrea Clearfield’s Salon in Philadelphia, PA; Central Park Performing Arts Center in Largo, FL; The Triad Theatre in NYC, NY; Daryl’s House in Pawling, NY; The Tin Pan in Richmond, VA and more.
Gypsy Star are now back in the studio recording new songs to add to their already impressive catalogue.
