Reverend Barry & The Funk are an 8-piece funk & soul band from Sarasota, FL with 2 Grammy-nominated performers and a super-tight 3-pc horn section.
Reverend Barry & The Funk are an 8-piece funk & soul band from Sarasota, Florida, formed in 2013 by “Reverend” Barry Nicholson (bass, lead vocals). The band features 2 Grammy-nominated performers (Yaya Diamond/lead vocals, Ray C. Williams/drums), as well as a tight 3-piece horn section called “The Hellacious Horns”.
The band has released 2 albums: SxyGdLuv (2018) and A Thousand Lives We’ve Lived (2020), and is working on a 3rd album due to be released in 2021.
Our influences are: Tower of Power, Earth, Wind & Fire, Commodores, James Brown, Sly & The Family Stone, Graham Central Station, Stevie Wonder, The Black Crowes, Prince, Zapp, Kool & The Gang, Bruno Mars, Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
