For 50 years Royce has written, recorded, and performed piano rocking blues, country, western swing, rockabilly, & the soul music of the South. When a kid can sing harmonies when he’s 3 years old, he has an ear for music. By the age of 5, Royce was riding a Houston city bus across town to take piano lessons. He made the transition from classical to blues and jazz studying with Jac Murphy (the award winning pianist made famous on the haunting intro “Wildfire”, the Michael Martin Murphy hit of the 1980s). From there it was a short jump at 15 to playing in southern rock and country bands in Texas honky-tonks and Oklahoma blues bars, where Royce honed his chops on boogie-woogie and shuffles, western swing, blues, and rockabilly. In 2019, Royce paired with vocalist Jamie Inman to represent the Suncoast Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN.
