The Zangwills met at sixth form college in Northwich, Cheshire, UK. They released their debut single New Heights in December 2017 and have released music steadily since including 2 EP’s It’s Really Up to You and In Amongst the Glitter.
Each of them bring very different influences to the band and this, along with Jake’s unique voice, is reflected in their distinctive sound which is instantly recognisable. Described as being, ‘Like nothing else out there, an immensely valuable quality when so many bands disappear into a slurry of sameness’ by Getintothis.
Tricky to pin down for comparison, the band cite David Bowie, Arctic Monkeys, Patti Smith, The Cure & The Strokes among their influences.
A charismatic young band with a reputation for their incredibly strong live sets, now including Jess Lees on backing vocals. Their headline dates tend to sell out in advance, most recently, Manchester Academy and The Grace, London, their supports have included Yungblud.
The video for their song Judas on the Dancefloor, was produced by Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and BAFTA-winning young Director, Lowri Roberts. Both had been on the crowd at their (sold out) Manchester Academy show. Realising that the song was about the issues surrounding groping, spiking and harassment on nights out, they offered to produce a video for it. It went on to win the award for Best International Music Video at Focus Wales Film Festival 2022.
