Bob Green Performing Acoustically at High Tide Harry’s May 16, 2020

High Tide Harry’s in Orlando, Florida bravely moved forward to post COVID-19 by welcoming Bob Green to perform Saturday May 16, 2020. A tent was set up on the side of the restaurant shading eight tables that were spaced to promote social distancing. Under partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low eighties, a slight breeze created a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy live music under the big top. All Music Magazine jumped at the chance to cover the show after a two month quarantine. Mark Horan of MarkHoran.Pictures LLC was on site to report in his words and photograph the evenings three hour event that started promptly at 5:30pm.

Having an opportunity to take the Nikon D5 out of hibernation was an opportunity that I couldn’t resist. I have covered Bob Green six times over the years, twice solo in a singer/songwriter setting and three times with his band, The Whiskey Conspiracy. But this was the first time I have actually seen him perform covers. Yep, it was still the Bob Green that delivers soulful vocals, especially on his trademark final song of each show “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Bob is a strong tenor that could powerfully deliver to the crowd without the aid of a PA system or microphone.

Between songs Bob shared anecdotes from past experiences that he had while working as a bartender at this venue. The stories were not lost on the crowd as they were present and past coworkers of Bob  the bartender, his second job. There were 18-20 in attendance counting the serving staff which was in and out at High Tide Harry’s. The crowd ordered beverages and items off the restaurant’s menu. It was all too familiar and had a feeling of normalcy which brought smiles to the entire setting. A huge thank you to the staff of High Tide Harry’s and to Bob Green for reminding us of life once again.

Please support local music, especially now as these artists have been sequestered and want nothing more than to perform their art. We can get back to normal, but we have to get over the paralyzing fear that has been reported over the past months. Let the local venues and the local artists know you appreciate them and need them moving forward to get back to our lives as we know it. Please don’t forget to show your support in your monetary contributions as we are all together and need each other moving forward.

Thanks Bob!
