Intergalactic drag queen superstar Dirty Versachi has crashed down on Earth and abducted new audiences with their latest experimental electronic dance-pop banger ‘Don’t Go Thru My Phone’, featuring non-binary artist Jamaica Moana.
 

 

 

 

 
The brand-new track is a celebration of individuality and finding self-empowerment even in unconventional ways. Dirty Versachi celebrates finding the strongest connection towards what humans call “drag queens”. 
 
“The name is pretty explanatory – Don’t Go Through My Phone is an ode to the lock down “season” where a lot of us had a lot more spare time on our hands and digital communication was one of the only forms of intimacy we have. While it’s fun to take a cheeky “explicit” selfie you don’t want the whole world finding out… but we all have that one (or more friends, strangers) that get their hands on our phone and want to go through it. For me, being able to express my sexuality through music has always been a challenge. For a long time, I was told to hide my sexuality if I wanted to “make it” in music but I’ve now come to love who I am and all parts of me. This song and being Dirty Versachi allows me to fully explore this. In a way it is a love letter to my younger self as it is unashamedly queer, flirtatious, and maybe even a little raunchy. Through this song, I hope to inspire others to embrace their inner weirdness, not to yuck someone’s yum and find joy in the things that make them unique.”
 
After being forced to assimilate and camouflage their alien-like qualities to blend in, they discovered that like them, there were many humans that also felt alien-like on their own planet. Finding solace in this and a strong connection with their newfound companions, they have discovered a new way of self-expression to create healing and bring people together as a community using their power of fantasy and cosmos sounds.
 
Dirty Versachi has teamed up with Jamaica Moana to unveil the visuals to the single, as they explore the world of slime fetishism and the hidden desires we keep on our phones.
 

 

 

 

 
“It was a crazy experimental journey to create it. I worked with Jamaica Moana on the track. The stars aligned and brought the talented Eora-based artist to Naarm. The only thing was, we had a week to plan the shoot. Jamaica and her team put their trust in us and went with our crazy ideas to drip slime everywhere. I had a vision and, with a team of alien angels, was able to pull it through in a crazy turn around. We actually shot the clip and the photoshoot at the same time, and it was the funnest shoot I have ever done. I think when you’re creating something you truly believe in and have fun doing it, it can make a world of difference. It’s something I have really enjoyed exploring through this project.”Throughout 2022 Dirty Versachi has performed at a number of sold-out Mardi Gras parties, supported Wiigz on their East Coast tour, and DJ’d at Summer Camp Festival (Naarm) opening for Years & Years, The Veronicas, and Cub Sport.
