When Eddie and The Getaway stopped in Waco, TX, on their Off the Road tour, they didn’t just play a show; they unleashed an explosive performance at The Backyard Bar Stage and Grill on February 21, 2026.
Cole Barnhill and his band kicked things off and wasted no time getting wild. Barnhill was all over the stage, feeding off the crowd and making sure everyone felt the energy. From the jump, the band’s heavy rock vibe took over The Backyard Stage and Grill. Loud guitars, pounding drums, and Barnhill’s gritty vocals made it clear this wasn’t your average opener. You could tell the night was about to get rowdy, and everyone was here for it.
Barnhill didn’t just stand there; he owned the whole stage, bouncing around and keeping the crowd fired up. The band was right there with him, cranking out a gritty sound that was tight but never too polished. You could tell these guys were having a blast, just feeding off each other and letting loose. It felt raw and real, the kind of set that grabs you and doesn’t let go.
Halfway through the set, while it was still around 40 degrees outside (we’re Texans, we don’t do cold weather), Barnhill decided shirts were optional. The cold didn’t faze him at all. If anything, it made him even wilder. That moment summed up the whole vibe: raw, rowdy rock and roll, with nobody holding back.
Their set wrapped up just as strong as it started, and by the end, there was no question: Cole Barnhill and his band are going places. They’ve got the sound, the attitude, and the energy you want in a rock band. If you weren’t a fan before, you probably are now.
It was time for Eddie and The Getaway to start their set, and honestly, it was pure chaos in the best way possible. It’s wild thinking back to a little over two years ago, when I met these guys here opening for someone else, and now they’re headlining. Nostalgia! They started the show with “Crazy,” and it only escalated from there.
One thing you’re going to get when you’re at an Eddie and The Getaway show is energy. Eddie was bouncing all over the place. At one point, he was standing on the rails singing a Nickelback cover while fans made sure he didn’t fall back and hit his head on the stage. Mark moved around like he was competing in the 100-yard dash while playing guitar. He went from one side of the stage to the other in about .5 seconds (hard to photograph when he moves faster than the button on your camera), and Jack was smashing the drums so hard I’m surprised there was anything left of his kit by the end. That is an Eddie and the Getaway show. You can tell they are having the best time on stage, but they are also having the best time playing together. That energy can’t be manufactured.
The whole concert felt more like a garage rager than a concert. Guys in the crowd started a bro dancing circle in the middle of the floor (because why not?). Jack’s drum solo was a whole event in itself. It is a crowd favorite. It was raw, loud, and completely unhinged in the best way. By the end of the drum solo, Eddie and Mark were jamming, supporting the end of his drum solo, and the energy in the crowd was magnetic.
The guys brought out Cole Branhill one last time to sing their latest single and collaboration, “Bad For Me.” When Eddie and The Getaway play, there’s nothing stiff or staged during their performance. That is their natural presence, complete energy, start to finish. A fun site to see 2 years later at The Backyard Bar Stage and Grill.
I’ve shot a lot of their shows when they come to Texas, but this one? This one was my favorite. Call it nostalgia, I’ve always loved their energy every show, but this one was the best performance to date that I’ve seen. Just three ambitious, passionate musicians, their fans, and a setlist of their best songs. That’s how you do a rock show. Their set list included “Crazy,” From The Outside,” “Cobain,” Alexis Texas,” “Middle Finger Motto (a crowd favorite),” and “Overdose.” They wrapped up their set with “Sleep Alone.”
Catching Eddie and The Getaway live is something you can’t sleep on. There’s a rawness and fire to their set that you just don’t find every day. They leave everything out there, and the crowd feeds off it. If you get the chance to see them, don’t hesitate. Their stage energy is unreal, and missing out would be a rookie move.

Hi!
I’m Jalys. Music and concert photographer located in Austin, TX. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Photocommunications. Pretty cool, right? An Instagram degree before Instagram was cool!
I enjoy traveling around Texas and taking photos of bands and musicians. Texas has so many awesome venues, and I want to photograph any that I can. Music has always been a major part of my life, and while a student at Texas Tech, I knew that I wanted to specialize in music photography. I have lived in the Austin area for over 17 years and have photographed so many cool bands. Let’s add yours to the list!
When I’m not photographing, I’m probably working at my day job as a University Recruiter. I travel quite often for work and love visiting college campuses! I enjoy hanging out with my 2 dogs, Carter and Tucker, and my adopted cat, Allie. I also love doing anything crafty. I enjoy taking random arts-and-crafts classes, anything where I can have fun experiences!
