Glenn Hughes is a bassist, vocalist, and songwriting legend that found success in the early 70’s with the band Trapeze, and would eventually join Deep Purple in 1973. He would be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2016 as part of Deep Purple. Glenn would also go on to be part of Black Sabbath for one album, and do a number of other band projects over the years such as The Dead Daisies and Black Country Communion. But, the bulk of Glenn’s production has been as a solo artist releasing more than a dozen records, and he is preparing to release another one! The new album is called Chosen and it comes out on September 5th on the Frontiers Music label.
In this interview, Glenn talks about writing the new record, what Black Country Communion might have coming, and what Hughes/Thrall might also have coming! We also talk about the passing of the iconic Ozzy Osbourne, which occurred the day before this conversation. And Glenn tells us about two new song collaborations he’s done with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, and a song with Tony Iommi and Robbie Williams!

Hello everyone! My name is Scott Itter, but some know me as Dr. Music. I am a music journalist and photographer out of the Chicagoland area, and I have been in practice for over 20 years. I grew up in the 70’s with two big brothers that showed me all kinds of rock and roll. As I grew older I ventured out into different genres like jazz, funk, folk, and whatever else I could wrap my ears around. As I read every liner note and every Circus and Hit Parader like they were the Old and New Testament, I came to realize that I just love sound and appreciate all the people that create it.
I later became a stay-at-home dad and started honing my writing and photography skills to keep my mind from turning into mashed peas. My kids are now adults, my mind is only slightly mushy, and I am thrilled to have the honor of presenting my work to you!
