It was a hot, sunny day as Coheed and Cambria and Incubus made a tour stop at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 27th, 2024. Incubus and Coheed & Cambria are no strangers to touring together, having just shared the stage on a previous tour last year. This time around, Incubus is treating fans to Morning View XXIII, a re-recording and re-release of their acclaimed 2001 album, performed in its entirety.
As the sun began to set on the sweltering August day, the Wells Fargo Center was bathed in a warm, orange glow, mirroring the hues of the stage lights as Coheed and Cambria stepped into view. The band wasted no time in launching into their set, a high-energy blend of prog-rock, alternative, and metal that had the crowd on their feet from the first note. Claudio Sanchez’s impeccable vocals resonated through the arena, a powerful reminder of his unmatched stage presence and the band’s technical prowess. Each song was performed with precision, contributing to a dynamic and engaging show.

By the time the clock struck nine, anticipation had reached a fever pitch. The opening notes of “Nice to Know You” echoed through the arena, and the crowd erupted as Incubus took the stage. This tour holds special significance, as the band is performing their reimagined version of Morning View, dubbed Morning View XXIII, in its entirety. The nostalgic vibes were palpable as the audience sang along to every word of classics like “Wish You Were Here,” their voices joining in perfect harmony with Brandon Boyd‘s distinctive vocals.
Boyd’s charismatic presence was on full display, as he frequently engaged with the audience, at one point jokingly asking, “It is Tuesday, right? What a cool Tuesday night.” This laid-back banter added a personal touch to the performance, making the large venue feel unexpectedly intimate. For longtime fans, the set was a dream come true, offering a rare opportunity to hear deep cuts like “Blood on the Ground” and “Under My Umbrella” that are seldom played live.
The synergy between Boyd and guitarist Mike Einziger was electric, showcasing the brotherly bond that has been at the heart of Incubus’s success for over three decades. Nicole Row, the newest addition to the band, seamlessly fit into the lineup, bringing her own flavor to the mix while honoring the group’s established sound. Her presence added a fresh dynamic to the performance, proving that she is a perfect fit for the band.
In addition to Morning View, Incubus delighted the crowd with a few of their greatest hits, including fan-favorites “Pardon Me” and “The Warmth.” Hearing the reimagined tracks from Morning View live, infused with new life and energy, was a truly invigorating experience. Even after 30 years and eight studio albums, Incubus continues to captivate audiences with their timeless music and dynamic live performances. The tour, which has been a nostalgic journey for many fans, is set to wrap up on September 12th in the band’s home state of California, promising a fitting finale to a memorable run.
