‘Beggars Soul’ is the lead J Lee and the Hoodoo Skulls single from their second album release due in early 2021 of the same title.
Gutsy, rock n’ roll, swagger, edgy, swampy – just some of the words used to describe this Surrey UK bands sound Typically the stuff of biker rock legend, that you’d find somewhere down an American highway. They blend Americana with bluesy retro vibes to create their unique brand of spiced blues rock.
The bluesy, roots album that’s littered with rockin riffs, sassy brass and an over all swagger to the land of rock ‘n ‘roll was written and partly recorded at Harun Kotche’s (lead guitarist and producer for the band) home studio in Southampton. J Lee says ‘This album came together pretty quickly with the whole album being written and demoed over the course of about 30 hours. The band also recorded the album at The Chapel, a recording studio in an actual church in Chichester, a great place to get that authentic roots sound.’ J Lee goes on to joke, ‘We’re just glad we didn’t erupt into flames with a band name like ours and our music!’
Fronted by Jason Lee Barratt with Harun Kotch on Lead Guitar, Wayne Riches on Drums and Mike Hartnett on Bass, with a sound this big, you’ll have to pinch yourself to remember that they come from the UK.
