‘LET YOUR HAIR DOWN’ OUT NOW ON ALL PLATFORMS
J Lee and the Hoodoo Skulls from Surrey UK unleash their new single ‘Let Your Hair Down’ and hip swinging video from their album ‘Beggars Soul’ which is due for release this summer via CD and all platforms
This uptempo ditty sees fifties rock ‘n’ roll dance floor sensibilities clashing with eighties stadium rock hooks in a battle royale of hip shakin’ attitude. Fancy a badass slide guitar solo on the side?
J Lee says of the video, “It was tricky to come up with any idea that didn’t involve having more than one person in a room at the same time, for obvious reasons.” The band mulled over what would be the best solution to bring fans together in these times; “We came up with the idea to throw it open on social media with a snippet and therefore allow anyone that wanted to, to be a part of it. We were overwhelmed with the response, it’s great to bring people together with music and if we couldn’t fit you into the video, we’re sorry and will make it up to you at a show!”
Fronted by J Lee, with Harun Kotch (Lead Guitarist and co writer/producer with the band), Wayne Riches (Drums – formerly with Skin of Skunk Anansie) and Mike Hartnett (Bass), create a sound so punchy you’ll have to pinch yourself to remember that they come from the UK. Gutsy, edgy, raw are just some of the words that have been used to describe their sound.
The bluesy, roots album is littered with rocking riffs, sassy brass and a gripping sound that recording sessions at The Old Chapel, a recording studio in an actual church in Chichester UK, gives an earthed authentic roots sound, of which the album will showcase. Their previous single ‘Baby Blue’ was featured in Classic Rock Magazine’s ‘Tracks Of The Week’ and aired on Planet Rock along with a plethora of other stations.
‘We would have loved to have our album out sooner, but we all know what’s going on in the world.’ J muses, ‘We can say that it’ll be worth the wait. There’ll be more from us in the meantime to keep everyone dancing in these crazy times.’
Lo-Fi riff laden gutsy rock with powerful vocals that you can dance to? That’ll be J Lee and The Hoodoo Skulls.
“J Lee has rock’n’roll in his veins and he knows what to do with it.”
Classic Rock Magazine
“They bring together the best of Americana, the blues and good old fashioned rock n roll. “
