J LEE AND THE HOODOOSKULLS // BABY BLUE // NEW SINGLE & VIDEO

‘BABY BLUE’ OUT NOW

J Lee and the Hoodoo Skulls from Surrey UK reveal their new single ‘Baby Blue’ and groove-laden lyric video from their album ‘Beggars Soul’ which is due for release later this year via CD and all platforms.

‘If it’s a good time you’re after, then you’ve come to the right place’ smiles the swaggering J Lee, “With it’s slapback-laden vocals and a tip of the hat to rock n roll ‘Baby Blue’ was the first song that was brought to the table.” It’s the one that got the cogs of their new album turning; “The song’s blistering guitar riffs, driving beats and swirling organ serve as a no-nonsense statement of intent from us.”

Fronted by J Lee, the son of the legendary household name Shakin’ Stevens (yes, the very one) with Harun Kotch (Lead Guitarist and co writer/producer with the band), Wayne Riches (Drums – formerly with Skin of Skunk Anansie) and Mike Hartnett (Bass), create a sound so punchy you’ll have to pinch yourself to remember that they come from the UK. Gutsy, edgy, raw are just some of the words that have been used to describe their sound.

The bluesy, roots album is littered with rocking riffs, sassy brass and a gripping sound that recording sessions at The Old Chapel, a recording studio in an actual church in Chichester UK, gives an earthed authentic roots sound, of which the album will showcase.

‘We would have loved to have our album out sooner, but we all know what’s going on in the world.’ J muses, ‘We can say that it’ll be worth the wait. There’ll be more from us in the meantime to keep everyone dancing in these crazy times.’

Lo-Fi riff laden gutsy rock with powerful vocals that you can dance to? That’ll be J Lee and The Hoodoo Skulls.

“Sleazy tequila-soaked rock ‘n’ roll riffage with tips of the cap to ZZ Top and Rival Sons.”                                  -XYX Magazine –
