Jess Glynne with opener Leah Kate were at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco California on Wednesday, October 23 2024. The Regency Ballroom is a venue that was designed in the Scottish Rite model making it a unique venue.
Leah Kate from Los Angeles, California originally but now lives in New York, was up first and she is a bang-up artist originally. Starting with the track “911” she tore up the stage with plenty of attitude. Ending the first song with a huge round of applause as she entered the next song, “Super Over”, which is about her ex-boyfriend (which a lot of her songs were about), and she did a great job at painting a picture of what he was like.
Next was “What Girls Do” and it was an ode to all the ladies in the audience. The next few songs were more of the same, breakup songs until a Gwen Stefani’s tune, “Hollaback Girl” which was on target. The entire crowd sang along with her which sounded awesome. From there, Leah played “Bored”, “Nasty” and “I Forgot” before entering their last song “10 Things I Hate About You”. That song was epic as again it was about her ex who, according to her, had about 7000 things wrong with him but she narrowed it down the the top 10. Overall she was entertaining to the crowd and commanded the stage.

The headliner, Jess Glynne from North London, England, commanded the stage and the audience whole-heartedly approved. Jess started her set with “Silly Me” and it seemed as if every song was a crowd favorite. She had the nearly sold-out, audience singing along with her throughout the whole set. “I’ll Be There” was the next song and she was in full form as she settled in for the night.
The next song was “123” and that tune hit a note with the audience as she worked her way through her program. During the next song, Route 94’s “My Love,” Jess handed out a disposable camera and requested it to be passed around to get photos of the show. And it needed to be returned to her at the end.
The next few songs were more of the same, “Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself”, “Enough” and “Love Me.” All great songs with excellent beats behind them. “Ain’t Got Far To Go” was up next and had everyone singing and dancing where they stood. She began “Lying,” off her latest album, Jess, a slower song, which brought the energy down a bit while still keeping everyone entertained.
When she started “Friend of Mine” it was a love-fest in the venue. Everyone was singing every word as she belted out the lyrics. Definitely a highlight of her show for sure. The final of the night was a banger indeed. Starting off with a Clean Bandit cover of “Rather Be” and working in to “Hold My Hand” it was an awesome end to the evening and a stellar event. What an awesome evening.

Photographer of about 10 years, I have been shooting concerts for about 8 of those years. I started to get serious about concert photography about 6 or 7 years ago and now try to shoot as many as I can. I shoot mostly rock but, have done some country and big band stuff. I love music and since I am nowhere close to being a musician, this is a way I can be a small part of what, in the words of Henry Rollins, “gets me through the highs, the lows and everything in between”.
