On January 15, 2025, Kerry King kicked off the North American tour 2025 at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, California, with an explosive performance. The supporting acts for this tour were Alien Weaponry and Municipal Waste, creating a perfect combination of talent. This show was nearly a sellout, and those who missed it definitely missed an unforgettable experience.
Alien Weaponry was the first band to take the stage. Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, they were impressive from the moment they began their set. One striking feature was their drummer, Henry de Jong who also took on vocal duties, and he sang powerfully. The trio displayed complete control as they thrashed through their performance. Their songs included portions sung in the Māori language, adding to their aggressive sound. When they played “Kai Whatu,” the crowd erupted into action, clearly enjoying every moment. Their set lasted about 30 minutes, which left the audience wanting more.

When Municipal Waste hit the stage, the crowd was electric. From the very first song, the musicians captivated the audience with their remarkable intensity. The moment they launched into “Grave Dive,” it felt magical. They held nothing back as they powered through their set. Songs like “Your Cut Off” and “Thrashin’ of the Christ” sent the pit into a frenzy, with security working hard to catch crowd surfers.
To change things up, they included an instrumental track called “Under the Waste Command,” which was fantastic. During this song, a character designed by a member of the band Ghoul tossed beers into the audience. The band noted that many people in the venue were older, suggesting they should be listening to more Ghoul. For their final song, “Born to Party,” the lead singer mentioned that he had blown his voice out, and that was just Day One of a five-week tour!

When Kerry King hit the stage, it felt like a bombshell had gone off. The concert kicked off with “Where I Reign,” from their debut album From Hell I Rise, and the band was on fire. As they transitioned into the second song, “Rage,” the pit erupted, and crowd surfing became the norm. Next came “Trophies of the Tyrant,” “Residue,” and “Two Fists,” which truly electrified the audience.
“Two Fists” was a powerhouse track that resonated with everyone present. When they launched into “Relentless,” their first Slayer song of the night, the crowd exploded with excitement. Following that, “Toxic” served as the band’s commentary on world politics and the chaotic situation we find ourselves in. They then played “Tension,” which perfectly captured the energy of the night. The crowd was completely wrapped up in the music, and it showed.
When “Disciple,” another Slayer classic, began, the excitement on everyone’s faces was palpable. It was nothing short of spectacular. The band then honored the memory of two recently deceased Iron Maiden members, Paul Di’Anno and Clive Burr, by performing “Purgatory” and “Killers.” Those tributes made the night even more special, but the set wasn’t over yet; they still had plenty of music to share.
They smoothly transitioned into “At Dawn, They Sleep,” “Crucifixion,” and “Shrapnel,” leading up to a Slayer classic, “Raining Blood.” That song was a monstrous performance, showcasing their dominance on stage. They followed with “Black Magic,” which was also killer, before they closed the night with “From Hell I Rise,” the title track from their album. This final song put an exclamation point on the evening, shredding intensely and leaving the audience thoroughly exhilarated.
If you are even thinking of going to a show, do it. Tickets are still available!

Photographer of about 10 years, I have been shooting concerts for about 8 of those years. I started to get serious about concert photography about 6 or 7 years ago and now try to shoot as many as I can. I shoot mostly rock but, have done some country and big band stuff. I love music and since I am nowhere close to being a musician, this is a way I can be a small part of what, in the words of Henry Rollins, “gets me through the highs, the lows and everything in between”.
