May 7, 2024—Bewitched: The Goddess Edition, the new release from GRAMMY®-winning Icelandic-Chinese artist, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Laufey, is debuting at #18 on the Billboard 200, marking Laufey’s first time in the top 20 on the chart. The expanded edition is also charting as the #1 Independent Album, #1 Traditional Jazz Album, #2 Vinyl Album, and #3 Current Album.

Laufey celebrated over the weekend with two completely sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, featuring surprise guest performances with Norah Jones and Jon Batiste. Also, last night, Laufey attended the prestigious Met Gala as a guest of Asian American designer Prabal Gurung.

On Thursday, Laufey will round out the remarkable week with an appearance on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” to perform her latest single “Goddess,” before finishing up the North American leg of her tour with sold out shows in Boston and Philadelphia.

Bewitched: The Goddess Edition features four brand-new original songs that Laufey wrote in the wake of finishing her 2023 critically celebrated album Bewitched. Upon its release last September, Bewitched was the biggest debut for a jazz album on Spotify in history and has garnered 1 billion streams to date globally. The album’s hit single “From The Start” is now RIAA-certified Platinum, and in February, Laufey won the 2024 GRAMMY® for “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.”

Los Angeles-based Laufey (pronounced lāy-vāy) was raised between Reykjavík and Washington, D.C. with annual visits to Beijing. In 2020, while still a student at Berklee College of Music, Laufey released her debut single “Street by Street,” which went on to top the Icelandic radio charts. In 2022, she released her debut full-length, Everything I Know About Love, which reached #1 on Billboard’s Alternative New Artist Album chart. The album featured the RIAA-certified Gold singles “Valentine,” which peaked at #1 on the Spotify Jazz Chart, and “Let You Break My Heart Again.” Today, Laufey has over 2 billion streams across all platforms.
