M3 Rock Festival is happening this weekend in Columbia Maryland. May 6-8, 2022

This Friday the M3 Rock Festival returns to Columbia Maryland for the 13th year. This festival marks the kickoff for festival season in the northeast. Held at the Merriweather Post Pavillion, this year’s festival, in my opinion, looks to be one of the best yet! The festival hosts some of the most popular rock and metal bands of the 1980’s and early 1990’s along with some newer and cover bands of the same genre. In addition to the covered pavilion seating and open-air lawn area, there are also sky boxes and a sky lawn boasting a much higher view of the stage.

Friday’s festivities include an appearance from Danny Koker‘s band Count’s 77. I am excited to see Doro and Lizzy Borden as it has been a couple years. Doro’s positive attitude shines through in every song she sings. Rounding out the night are some fireworks and the official Kix-off to the weekend. Below are the set times and some photos I have taken of some of the bands that will be in attendance.

Friday – May 6 – VIP 5:45pm/ Doors 6:30pm
Count’s 77 – 7:10pm – 7:40pm

Saturday will feature 8 fantastic bands from back in the day. I recently saw Heaven’s Edge at Monsters on The Mountain and they put on an unbelievable show. Tony Harnell is another that I am looking forward to. Tony is the voice of TNT, and I hear his voice is still phenomenal! Although Blue Oyster Cult was not a favorite of mine as I was growing up, their hits have grown on me over the years, and I can’t wait to see them for the first time. Extreme operates like a well-oiled machine.

Sunday’s lineup is the biggest of the weekend, with 9 crowd favorites. I am excited to see 4 bands that I have never seen before: Burning Witches, Leatherwolf, XYZ, and Zebra. Stryper was the first concert I ever saw, back in 1986. They have been putting out music ever since. Some of my favorite songs are on their more recent albums. Tesla is my all-time favorite band. Their recent release Cold Blue Steel is awesome performed live! Get your tickets at M3 Rock Festival 3-day Pass Tickets May 06, 2022 Columbia, MD | Ticketmaster
