Nashville, TN – March 27, 2024 – Country music fans are gearing up and counting down the days to Rock the Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival, in partnership with Live Nation, taking place April 5-7, 2024 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Tortuga 2024 will feature performances from a variety of acts including headliners Jason Aldean, HARDY and CMA Entertainer Of The Year Lainey Wilson, as well as icons Bret Michaels, TLC and Boyz II Men. The festival’s three stages will also include the Next From Nashville stage, which will spotlight 15 talented up-and-coming artists.
In addition to a one-of-a-kind lineup that caters to fans of all ages, the festival continues to be a trailblazer in ocean conservation and sustainability. Since its inception in 2013, the festival has raised over $4 million supporting 100+ nonprofits dedicated to saving our oceans and marine life. In 2023, the festival’s efforts were awarded the prestigious Bronze Stevie Award for Sustainability Leadership in the US and Canada at the 20th Annual International Business Awards.
Sustainability at the 2024 Tortuga Music Festival will focus on 3 major goals involving all departments, “Reduce, Rethink and Restore” – to reduce CO2 emissions and waste going to landfill, explore green products and technologies, and implement policies to protect Marine ecosystems and support ocean conservation efforts. Some of those programs at the festival will include:
- Offering reusable insulated cups in collaboration with Turnpike Troubadours and Pirani Life, and utilizing compostable cups at all concessions provided by Better for All.
- Eliminating single-use plastics on site with teams in place to ensure no plastic packaging is brought into the event, as well as a sorting through all waste backstage.
- Recycling site wide will be available, including cans, glass, cardboard, and wood.
- Donating leftover goods to avoid sending material to the landfill including: food to local food banks, towels to the animal shelter, canned water to various nonprofits in the area, leftover salad to feed resident sea turtle patients, and carrots to feed the Ft. Lauderdale police horses after the festival wraps.
The festival will continue other practices that have been implemented in years’ past, including using energy saving technologies from SunBelt to reduce carbon emissions. A portion of all proceeds are donated to Rock The Ocean’s conservation partners, who will have interactive booths that fans can visit in Conservation Village at the festival. All seafood served is approved by a specialist to ensure it is listed as “Best Choice” or “Good Alternative” as defined by The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program.
