A sold-out crowd was excited to see Noah Kahan at HISTORY in Toronto, Ontario on November 1, 2022. The singer-songwriter from Strafford, Vermont recently released his third studio album, Stick Season last month. He is at the midway point on his headlining tour, where every show has been sold out. His honest songwriting has been the reason why many adore his music, so it was no surprise the audience filled the venue to hear his music.
Adam Melchor was the show’s opener, and he captivated the audience with his acoustic setlist. He got the audience hooked with his cover of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Then, he interacted with the crowd singing along to “Rest of My Night.” He got the crowd laughing at the stories behind his songs and honouring his love for Canada while effortlessly singing high notes with his impressive guitar work. The crowd were left cheering for his amazing performance.

The lights dimmed dark, and the backing band walked onstage for the arrival of Noah Kahan. As Noah approached to the stage, the crowd immediately cheered loudly. The opener, “False Confidence” was sung word by word by the audience, which drew delight to Noah. He introduced himself to the audience as the “Jewish Ed Sheeran,” a “Wellbutrin Keanu Reeves,” and “a severely disfigured Jason Mraz,” which drew a laugh from the crowd. He mentioned how excited he was to perform in Toronto as it is one of his favourite cities to perform. Fittingly, he wore a classic Canadian-styled denim jacket to blend in.
The lyrics behind his songs are deeply personal and related to real-life issues, so it’s no surprise Noah has a fanbase that has kept growing since his career started in 2017. The acoustic performances of “Glue Myself Shut” and “Growing Sideways” were sung loudly about Noah paying tribute to his loved ones and attending therapy.
Adam Melchor joined Noah ontage to perform “Halloween,” a song fittingly played the day after Halloween. Noah continued to swoon the audience with his soulful voice and lyrics while his backing band made his live performances sound its fullest. Noah admitted not feeling great in the past week, but Tuesday night was the best he has felt, and it showed with his energy with the band and audience. Noah thanked the crowd who supported his career from the beginning before performing “Youngblood.” Noah left the stage, and the crowd immediately called for an encore. Noah and the backing band returned shortly to play three more songs, “The View Between Villages,” “Stick Season,” and “Mess.” Noah and the band bowed to the crowd one last time before exiting the stage to a satisfied audience. Noah Kahan is a must-listen to see live for those who appreciate indie folk music and imitate songwriting.
