Samael, the black metal and industrial metal band from Switzerland arrived in Peru for the first time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Ceremony of Opposites, one of the most influential albums in their discography. The appointment was at the Yield Rock located in the historic center of the city of Lima and those in charge of the production were the people from Danger Steel.
The band in charge of opening the concert was Gore, a powerful Peruvian trio that plays brutal death metal/goregrind. They started their show with the new song “Cerebral Infection” from their upcoming album, then they played “Aborting Engengers” and “Sexual Laceration”, two songs from the second demo of the band Anal Vomit, the previous band of vocalist Juan Flores and continued with the songs from the album Necrotic Feast, Gore’s only album to date. It was a set that lasted almost half an hour and was very well received by the attendees who were arriving at the venue.

At 9:10 pm the lights went out and the song “Invictus” was heard over the speakers, which served as an introduction to the band. They began their show with the song “Black Trip” to continue with all the songs from the album Ceremony of Opposites that was released in 1994, and whose 30 years are the reason for the tour that brought them to Peru. This third album of the band is very special since it meant a significant advance with respect to their first two albums where the most classic black metal predominated. From this album onwards, the band’s style incorporated the industrial sound that would characterize the band on later albums. Furthermore, this album was very well received by critics and fans in general who made it a classic of the genre. Vorph, the vocalist and rhythm guitarist, greeted the audience with very well-pronounced Spanish and showed his joy at arriving in Peru for the first time after so many years. The songs continued in the same order as in the album and closed with the song that gives it its name in the midst of the general ecstasy. For many, the dream of finally seeing them in Peruvian lands was fulfilled.
The second part of the concert was a review of emblematic songs from the band’s different albums. The first to be played was “Into the Pentagram” from the debut album Worship Him, then they followed with “Rain” and “Shining Kingdom” from the album Passage. They followed songs from the albums Solar Soul, Blood Ritual and ended with the song “Black Supremacy” from Hegemony, Samael’s tenth and last album to date. It is necessary to highlight the energy of the band live since they never stopped moving on stage, especially Xy whose jumps when playing the drums and keyboards infected the band and audience with energy. At the end of the concert, the band took time to greet fans and sign albums and promotional posters.
