On a mild Central Florida Evening, music fans were descending upon Sanford, Florida, for dancing and a great time on a Saturday night at The Alley. Even the rock DJ Supa Dave, from WMMO Orlando, was on hand for this one. This year’s Best of Orlando® nominations for Orlando Weekly are now open, and The Best Cover Band voting is going on, and The 789’s band is right in the thick of the ballot voting.
It’s really great seeing the Central Florida community support live music. The 789’s are a great band to spend the night with as they are extremely entertaining with dual lead guitars from Ben and Memphis, the rhythm section with Nick on bass, and Terry behind the drum kit. The band covers hits from the 1970’s, 1980’s, and the 1990’s with the vibrant lead singer, Brittany, belting out the top hits from those decades. The remarkable thing with the band is that everyone sings leads and backup, giving the band a solid dynamic. The dance floor was covered the entire evening, and the crowd was having a blast.
Lead singer Brittany Smith has a great vocal range and is a captivating presence with her great smile and magenta hair. Her position in front of the stage demands attention with all eyes on her as the rest of the band engages with the audience, making a very complete show. Get out and see the 789’s in Central Florida and give them a vote for The Best Cover Band in Central Florida.
