Portland’s own The Dandy Warhol’s are in town tonight as part of the European tour and the O2 Ritz is packed out for what is set to be a great show. Opening proceedings with ‘Good Morning’ taken from their 1997 album ‘The Dandy Warhols Come Down’, the band waste no time as they stay well and truly in the 90’s with next song ‘Ride’. Cortney Taylor-Taylor then welcomes the crowd and talks of his afternoon in Manchester, wandering around soaking up the local musical history of the Hacienda and the Boardwalk, which no doubt will have put on nights and hosted bands that have been a source of influence for them over the years.
Psychedelic projections create the backdrop for the night and cast over the members themselves as the band weave their way through a setlist spanning 30 years, consisting of two new songs taken from their 2024 release, ‘Rockmaker’, ‘Summer of Hate’ and ‘I’d Like to Help You with Your Problem’. Their new album also holds some big-name collaborations from the likes of Slash from Guns N Roses and Debbie Harry.
As the set moves on, an expected high point of the evening comes as the band break into ‘Bohemiam Like You’ taken from their 3rd album ” Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia “, which inevitably has the whole crowd singing and dancing along. With no encore, the ebb and flow of the evening hits another high point with the relentless energy of ‘Get Off’ and ‘Godless’, leaving the band to end the evening with ‘Every Day Should Be a Holiday’.
Still pushing forward and expanding their psychedelic journey through music, The Dandy Warhols remain a heavy hitter and the crowd really showed their appreciation this evening.
