Tracy Bonham Wow’s the Crowd at the Catherine Clark Gallery in San Francisco, California on November 23, 2024

Tracy Bonham with special guests bass player Rene Hart, violinist Ani Bukujian, and cellist Saul Richmond-Rakerd performed at the Catherine Clark Gallery in San Francisco, California on November 23, 2024 .  The event was a collaboration between her and artist Julie Heffernan and what an event it was.

The set started with Tracy Bonham playing the piano as she captivated the audience with the first song.  The song was unknow and the rest of the musicians complimented her work on the piano which was divine. She followed that track up with “Whether You Fall”, complimenting the artists she was collaborating with that evening by playing the title track of the show in which Tracy wrote. The next song “Jumping Bean” was on the guitar. A guitar she said was way too heavy for her and, was probably going back to Guitar Center when she was done.

She rocked that song with a style that ravaged the audience. From there it was back to the piano where she said, while they tested everything out in rehearsal, they didn’t test out the shoes she was to wear and they were a bit clunky so expect some extra sound on the sustain pedal. That brought her into the song “The Uncertain Sun” which was  filled with lyrics that really hit home for many  in the audience.

Following that song was “Reciprocal Feelings,” a in progress song from her 4th album, Masts of Manhatta which was released in 2010 but it has changed and evolved through the years. The song is about her writing in her journals as a teen to what would be her internal best friend and why she never wrote back.

“Lifting Flower” was the next song, about vulnerability and how vibrant Julie Heffernan must be as an artist and about her mom and her battle with breast cancer and how she felt at the time.  “Give Us Something To Feel” was next and was a bit heavier in it’s musicality but, was perfect for the set.  Then “Devils Got Your Boyfriend” hit with flare that would have shut down the show but, there was one more. “Dear God, Should I Hit Send?”was the final song of the evening. That song and when she was done, she received a stunning round of applause.
