GRAMMY® Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, guitar legend, producer, and Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes has released a majestic live version of “Banks of the Deep End,” the first offering from his forthcoming Dreams & Songs symphonic album, available in the U.S. via Evil Teen Records. “Banks of the Deep End” was first featured on Gov’t Mule’s 2001 album, The Deep End, Volume 1, and has since become a fan-favorite among the Mule community. The new orchestral arrangement was recorded in 2019 at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Haynes’ hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, when he debuted his one-of-a-kind Dreams & Songs symphonic show alongside the 64-piece Asheville Symphony Orchestra and his lineup of seasoned rock ‘n’ roll improvisers including Oteil Burbridge on bass, John Medeski on organ and keys, Jeff Sipe on drums, and Greg Osby on saxophone.

“‘Banks of the Deep End’ is one of the songs that we probably play more than any other,” shares Haynes. “Although it doesn’t vary as much on a nightly basis as some of the other tunes, it somehow takes on its own personality just based on the song itself and the lyric and uniqueness of the chord structure and the melody. Playing it with a symphony emphasizes all the dramatic and dynamic changes that song presents, and it’s wonderful hearing it in that light.”

Tonight (April 30th), the Warren Haynes Band will perform their Dreams & Songs Symphonic Experience with The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductor Rich Daniels from the Chicago City Lights Orchestra, at The Orpheum Theater in New Orleans for Haynes’s first of two special nights at the venue. The acclaimed show explores all aspects of Warren’s incredible catalog and career including music from Gov’t Mule, Allman Brothers Band, The DeadJerry Garciaand his solo albums. Then, tomorrow, May 1stHaynes and his Gov’t Mule bandmates will headline the theater for the final night of their spring headlining tour. Limited tickets are still available – PRESS HERE for tonight’s WHB symphony show and PRESS HERE for tomorrow’s Gov’t Mule show. ABOUT WARREN HAYNES

Visionary GRAMMY Award-winning artist Warren Haynes is a cornerstone of the American music landscape, lauded as one of the most formidable guitarists and vocalists of the modern era and a prolific songwriter and producer. He effortlessly cross-pollinates genres and unfurls solos that broil with passion in his distinctive, signature style. Throughout his prolific career as part of three of the greatest live groups in rock history – Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule and the Dead – and an acclaimed solo artist, he has become one of music’s most treasured storytellers and his artistry has led to thousands of memorable performances and millions of album and track sales. Haynes is a beacon of creativity and musical excellence that inspires fans as well as fellow musicians, evidenced by the diverse array of artists that he has performed and recorded with, including Dave Matthews Band, Peter Frampton, Chris Stapleton, Coheed and Cambria, Dave Grohl, Carlos Santana, Willie Nelson, and Dolly Parton, and many more. After joining the Allman Brothers Band in 1989, Haynes released his first solo album, Tales of Ordinary Madness, in 1993 and soon after, he formed Gov’t Mule originally as a side project during band breaks. The Mule has since created a revered catalog over the past 30 years, including multiple GRAMMY nominations, leading them to be recognized as one of the most timeless, respected and active bands in the world whose spot amongst rock titans remains unshakable. Following a handful of solo live releases in 2003 and 2004, Haynes — ranked among the “Greatest Guitarists of All Time” by Rolling Stone – released his GRAMMY-nominated sophomore solo album, Man In Motion, in 2011 and his third solo collection, Ashes & Dust, in 2015. After nearly a decade, Warren issued his fourth solo album, Million Voices Whisper, in November 2024, debuting at the top of Billboard’s Blues Albums Chart. The self-produced collection of soulful blues-rock includes multiple appearances from his longtime ABB bandmate Derek Trucks as well as guest spots from Lukas Nelson and Jamey Johnson. He followed that up with its companion album, The Whisper Sessions, in September 2025, featuring stripped-down versions of select songs from Million Voices Whisper. Haynes also curates and hosts the Christmas Jam, an annual star-studded holiday charity show in his hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, which celebrated its 33rd event in 2025. As one of the most celebrated and longest-running live concerts in the U.S., the Christmas Jam has raised nearly $3 million for Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, constructing over 50 homes, and helps the region’s housing needs through newer partner BeLoved Asheville.
