The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, California hosted the King of the Monsters tour with The Iron Maidens, Zoso (a Led Zeppelin cover band), and the all-mighty Zakk Sabbath on December 1, 2024. It was an epic evening had by all in attendance which lingered for days.
The Iron Maidens were the first to take the stage. This band is made up of five devoted ladies who are true Iron Maiden fans. Upon hitting the stage, they opened with “Ace’s High” to thunderous applause. Then they followed up with a fantastic rendition of “Wasted Years,” much to the audience’s delight. Although Courtney Cox is no longer in the band, Alyssa Day stepped in beautifully, delivering a stunning performance. The Iron Maidens took on “Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner,” a challenging song that they performed exceptionally well, followed by “The Trooper.” Their showmanship was impressive, and their ability to cover such iconic songs was truly thrilling. The set continued with “Number of the Beast” and concluded with the classic “Run to The Hills.”

Next was the Led Zeppelin tribute band Zoso. They kicked off their set with “Good Times, Bad Times,” and they played it as if Led Zeppelin had been reborn. The technical skills they demonstrated blew everyone away right from the start. The next song, “Communication Breakdown,” was performed excellently and received enthusiastic feedback from the crowd. When they transitioned into “Immigrant Song,” the energy in the room was electric, and everyone was left craving more. The guitarist, Scott Hathaway, absolutely shredded that song. They then seamlessly jumped into “Bring It on Home,” which they melded into “Black Dog,” turning it into a sing-along for parts of the performance that the audience enjoyed. The following two songs, “Sick Again” and “Achilles Last Stand,” were both stellar, and the band played them with a confidence that showcased their talent. The final song of the night was “Over the Hills and Far Away,” and what a performance it was. Zoso made each song look easy, and the power of the first song resonated as strongly as that of the last. Overall, what a remarkable performance!

Then it was time for Zakk Wylde, along with Zakk Sabbath, and no introduction was needed. First and foremost, Zakk came out on stage with his action figures in one hand and his cell phone in the other, making a video for social media that evening. It was awesome! The band kicked off their set with “Supernaut,” which was met with an epic cheer from the crowd that lasted all night.
They launched into “Snowblind,” where Zakk’s guitar screamed as he belted it out. Next up was “Symptom of the Universe,” a stellar tune that thrilled everyone in the audience. They continued with “Under the Sun / Every Day Comes and Goes,” “Tomorrow’s Dream,” and “Wicked World.” The band was clearly having a great time, with Zakk and John DeServio playing together like a well-oiled machine, while Jeff Fabb hammered on the drums, keeping the beat alive.
“Fairies Wear Boots” followed, undoubtedly a crowd favorite. This led to “Into the Void,” a track that had many in the crowd rocking out as the vibe of that song resonated strongly with the audience. Then came a killer classic track, “Children of the Grave,” which everyone loved. As they performed it, those in attendance were singing and dancing along.
After that, they played “Lord of This World,” “Hand of Doom,” and “Behind the Wall of Sleep,” featuring some solid guitar work and band intros. The last two songs were “N.I.B.,” another of the crowd’s favorites, followed by the showstopper “War Pigs,” which brought the house down in an unforgettable way. To be honest, Zakk sounded so much like Ozzy on those tracks that it was astounding. Great job, man!

Photographer of about 10 years, I have been shooting concerts for about 8 of those years. I started to get serious about concert photography about 6 or 7 years ago and now try to shoot as many as I can. I shoot mostly rock but, have done some country and big band stuff. I love music and since I am nowhere close to being a musician, this is a way I can be a small part of what, in the words of Henry Rollins, “gets me through the highs, the lows and everything in between”.
