The Hunna a rock trio from Hertfordshire, England Formed in 2015 and they have been on my radar for quite a while now, they first piqued my interest when I caught a bit of one of their sets at a festival a few years back and they tore the roof of the tent they were playing in, but a few years have passed since then and a lot has gone on, Management problems, record label issues, Covid, Lockdowns etc. So, I was pretty excited to get the chance to review their new long player. Self-produced and self-released, if everyone else can’t get it right just do it your fucking self, well played lads well played

I think the Hunna are a beer band, but good beer if you know what I mean, so grabbed an ice-cold Estrella out of the fridge, put on my trusty headphones and hit play…..

The album starts with the “Storm” at its all very atmospheric, is this a Hunna record? all synths and building layers of sounds, it slowly builds and then the guitars kick in and cymbals crash and a screaming vocal underpins it all,

And then normality ensues “Trash” is four on the floor, Indie skate punk, like a British bastard child of the Limp Biscuit, early My Chemical Romance, obviously there is a little Blink 182 in there too, but they take all these influences and make a concoction of sound which is very much their own.

The next track is “Fugazi” which is my personal favourite on the album, it drives from the first note to the last squealing guitars, stomping drums punching you in the face!!

The album also has its quieter moments on tracks like “Find A Way Out (Back to You)” and ‘Untouched Hearts’ where you can hear what a great vocalist lead singer Ryan (Tino) Potter is, his vocals can be tender, melancholy and forceful at the same time.

The whole record clips along at a good pace and collectively and individually all the tracks hold their own, it’s a little bit emo, it’s a little bit skate punk, it’s a little bit alt-rock but more importantly, its all The Hunna, doing it their way and all power to them

7/10
