Today, Canadian singer-songwriter Alexander Stewart announces a nationwide UK Tour for May 2023 with further dates confirmed across Europe. It follows the success of an earlier run of UK and European shows which dovetailed his soul-searching smash, “Blame’s On Me” which has now been streamed over 48 million times, an impressive feat for an emerging artist.
The thirteen-date tour kicks off at The Garage in Glasgow on 5 May, with dates across the UK in Manchester, London, Birmingham, and Bristol before concluding with a headline set at The Great Escape Festival on 12 May. The Great Escape promises to showcase 500 emerging artists from all over the world in venues across the city.
Stewart embarks on his European leg of the tour from 14 May with stops in Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, France before wrapping on 23 May in The Netherlands. See below for full list of dates.
Tickets are on sale on Friday 24 March at 9am at alexanderstewart.komi.io.
Alexander says: “I couldn’t be more excited to go back on the road! My first ever headline tour started in Europe, and it’s gonna feel unbelievable to be back playing new music!”
News of a UK & European tour arrives as Alexander teases another heart wrenching new single, “Leave Me In The Dark”, due for release 5 April. The new track marks the next chapter in Alexander’s story and focuses on the betrayal that follows the breakdown of his relationship. Pre-save “Leave Me In The Dark” HERE.
The Toronto-born artist sang in choirs from an early age, and as he got older, was drawn to the hype-creating YouTube covers from artists like Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth and Bruno Mars. Inspired by these artists, he hit the recording studio and got to work on honing his craft throughout high school, eventually sparking viral gold with his take on Camila Cabello’s “Havana.”
As Stewart continued to build a loyal following of over 2 million subscribers on YouTube, he set his sights on taking his music career to the next level, making trips to Los Angeles with the main goal of building a platform so he could afford to make music on his own. After finishing school, he relocated to the West Coast permanently and spent time in the studio refining his songwriting, eventually breaking big with the effervescent 2020 single “Backwards,” which landed in his native Canada’s Billboard Top 20 chart.
As an independent artist, the Toronto-born/LA-based pop savant is on fire and no stranger to commercial success. His singles “Echo” and “When You Love Someone”, both released in 2022, have already amassed 31 million total streams with his catalogue boasting over 200 million streams across all platforms. Inspired by the international appeal and drawing inspiration from the big, bold pop of Lady Gaga and the elegant romanticism of Sam Smith, Alexander is living proof he can do it all on his own with his unique sky-scraping pop sound.
Tastemakers and fans worldwide are starting to take notice of Alexander’s astounding voice and ever-growing fanbase. Alexander also recently starred in Rita Ora’s new music video for “You Only Love Me” opposite a star-studded cast including Sharon Stone and Lindsay Lohan. He has been earmarked as an artist to watch by everyone from BBC Radio 1 Future Pop, BBC Newsbeat, Official Charts, 1883 and Euphoria.
