‘FOREVER’
OUT NOW !
Charly Bliss, the NYC and Australia based quartet indie band, has returned with their third studio album, “Forever”, released on August 16th via Lucky Number. Known for their unique blend of glossy melodies and raw emotional depth, the band continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries of their sound.
Produced by Jake Luppen (Hippo Campus), Caleb Wright (Samia), and the band’s own Sam Hendricks, Forever is a vibrant mix of synth-driven pop and indie, with a production that skillfully balances the polished with the gritty. The album kicks off with the track “Tragic,” which sets the tone for the record perfectly. Full of sequencers, loops, drum machines, and irresistibly sweet melodies, “Tragic”
Throughout the album, Charly Bliss know exactly when to hold back and when to unleash a dazzling chorus, creating moments that are irresistibly catchy. Tracks like “Nineteen,” “Calling You Out,” and “Waiting For You” are prime examples of this, earning the band well-deserved accolades even before the album’s full release. With the promise of another single, “Back There Now,” on the horizon, it’s clear that anticipation for Forever has been building for good reason.
The band’s ability to mix synth gloss with their signature guitar buzz at times evokes the stylings of pop icons like Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen—if they were indie and cool. The album is colorful and rich, exploring themes of crushes, embarrassments, relationships, and self-acceptance. Despite the polished production, there’s a genuine emotional undercurrent that runs through the album, grounding its infectious energy.
However, while Forever is undoubtedly full of energy and boasts slick indie synth-pop tracks with choruses that are sure to be crowd-pleasers, it doesn’t quite reach the heights of being a game-changer. It’s an enjoyable and entertaining record, one that I liked listening to, but it didn’t blow me away.
