ROSELLAS – SOMEWHERE INBETWEEN
RELEASED MAY 11TH 2023
Manchester band Rosellas released there Ep “Somewhere Inbetween” back on May 11th 2023.
Having been familiar with them since 2021 when they released “Common Ground” so I was eager to hear their new material.
The EP eases you in with a slow guitar which gradually picks up force and into an indie whirlwind dream, Drew Selbys vocals are perfect to match the energy of the track along with the perfect concoction of keys player Luis Sullivan it was perfect to lose myself in the nostalgia of indie music I grew to love and adore from teen years but with Rosellas own stamp firmly attached to it.
“Hideaway” is a perfect intro track which captivates the bands talents which include Euan Mail on guitar, Ollie Appleby on bass and Mark Zanker on drums and takes you to a place which in my case was hazy summers without a care in the world. “Switch Off” is a mellow, with Selbys vocals acting like a trusting hand to help you switch off. The guitar riffs really stood
out on this and matched the tempo.
“Bare Your Soul” takes you in a dark room that gradually becomes light then gets brighter and brighter throughout the track. This group play harmoniously and its evident through each track.
“Come Alive” instanlty makes you feel that It’s a more powerful intro than the previous tracks, husky vocals and backing vocals carry this track along, straight through to the “Thunderstorming” that marks the end of the EP again and shows the versatility of this band.
It’s a soft thoughtful track that showcases the instruments throughout it and is a perfect end to an amazing EP.
Rosellas are still showing themselves to be unstoppable and are worth catching live in the future if their shows are not sold out, like their previous run!
8.5/10
