The days remain long and the warm days of summer are always red hot in the world of indie pop fizzbomb four-piece, Lottery Winners, who release their latest, sugar sweet single, Sunshine. As the holiday season truly kicks in, the third single to emerge from the band’s upcoming, second album, Something To Leave The House For, is released via Modern Sky and arrives as an unmissable, blue sky soundtrack to life, love and lazy, hazy days outdoors.
Having already made a smile-wide statements of intent with the first singles to be lifted from their new album with Times Are Changing, and brilliant ‘food fight’ video-accompanied rainbow of melody, Favourite Flavour, the band shakes up their sound with bassist, Katie Lloyd bringing her radio-ready voice to front line. With a heavy flow of waterfall guitars and her own, effortlessly funky basslines generating a wall of shimmering sound, Sunshine is a song for lovers, for best friends and for family who bring the light when it’s needed most.
Lloyd reflects on the single by saying: “This song reminds me of the songs I grew up with. It’s got that nostalgic 2000’s pop sensibility, it sounds like bright colours and bubbles. It’s also my debut Lottery Winners single on lead vocals, so I really need it to go down well to shut Thom up once and for all!”
News that Lottery Winners have a mammoth, 14-track album ready to go came as no surprise to fans who had observed the band’s relentless work rate, when the band announced its arrival back in May. The time in between has seen the band return to the place they feel most at home, the stage, with a celebratory reunion with their audience happening at Manchester Academy the moment it was safe to do so.
Released on Fri 24 September 2021, Something To Leave The House For follows their 2020, self-titled UK Album Chart Top 30 debut, landing just prior to the UK’s first lockdown. The year that followed kick-started a remarkable, against-the-odds period of creativity, including the release of the emotive An Open Letter To Creatives and the band’s sensational, viral collaboration with Nickelback with the Rock Star Sea Shanty.
A growing list of UK Tour Dates for 2021 includes their celebratory ‘homecoming’ night at Manchester’s O2 Ritz and more big field festival appearances including Portsmouth’s Victorious Festival.
