Liam Gallagher and John Squire’s first collaboration together, ‘Just Another Rainbow’, lived up to expectations generated by its dream team duo of UK rock ‘n’ roll icons. And fans have agreed, catapulting the track into the Top 10 of the midweeks as the highest new entry of the week. Now the pair keep interest in ‘Just Another Rainbow’ at fever pitch as they share its official video.

The video plays to the song’s strengths, with Liam and John leading the band throughout an energised and charismatic performance in an abandoned railway tunnel. The footage is interspersed with imagery shot through a psychedelic prism, a stylistic choice which very naturally complements the duo’s influences and roots.

The ‘Just Another Rainbow’ video was directed by Charles Mehling (The Rolling StonesKasabianBlack Rebel Motorcycle Club) and was filmed in Bury

Released to a wave of international media attention, ‘Just Another Rainbow’ was perhaps best summarised by Clash, who stated: “‘Just Another Rainbow’ sounds exactly as you think it would: Liam Gallagher singing over the top of ‘Second Coming’. And what a joy that is.”

A quick recap of the Gallagher / Squire back story. Liam has been a dedicated Stone Roses fan since his teens, but the pair didn’t meet until they were both simultaneously working on legendary albums: ‘Definitely Maybe’ and ‘The Second Coming’. Sharing a mutual respect they soon became friends too, a connection has continued ever since, resulting in John’s surprise guest appearances at Liam’s huge Knebworth Park in 2022.

The idea of collaborating soon take shape, the duo sharing influences – HendrixThe Sex PistolsThe FacesBob MarleyThe Bee Gees – as they put together a catalogue of essential new songs. They realised their full potential during sessions in Los Angeles with the revered producer Greg Kurstin, who played bass, with drums provided by Joey Waronker (BeckR.E.M., Atoms for Peace).

So that’s ‘Just Another Rainbow’. But what does the future hold for the Gallagher/Squire project? You’ll be hearing more about that soon…
