Today, West Coast four-piece – BANDAID BRIGADE – release their much anticipated new album: ‘Sex Is Terrifying’, via Xtra Mile Recordings.
Fronted by musicians and collaborators Zach Quinn (PEARS) and Brian Wahlstrom (Scorpios, Gods of Mount Olympus), this band of unlikely lads come together to produce a second album packed with powerful choruses and soaring melodies that Bandaid Brigade have proudly patented “Yacht Punk”.
A record that pays homage to all of the music that both Quinn and Wahlstrom personally enjoy from Billy Joel to Bob Mould, while still staying true to their punkier roots; the making of ‘Sex Is Terrifying’ has proven to be a refreshing experience for both musicians and they couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. As Brian Wahlstrom says:
“I’ve never had anything close to this… I feel like I’m able to be myself and be who I am as a musician and writer, but also my personality. I’d tried to play piano in punk before, and Zach was the first person in that punk community who said that that’s what I should be doing! This is a project where I can totally be myself. This is my home.”
Recorded at High Tower Studios by James Whitten and mixed at The Blasting Room by Chris Beeble, ‘Sex Is Terrifying’ is a cohesive collection of whatever it is that makes Bandaid Brigade songs Bandaid Brigade songs. An intentional long-player that builds on the Seventies and Eighties-inspired foundations of the band’s first album, ‘I’m Separate’, but also digs deep in search of its own specific sound, the result is a glorious mix of the band’s heritage with a number of surprises thrown in for good measure.
Featuring the infectious singles “Perfect”, “Hit The Buck” and “Abacus”, ‘Sex Is Terrifying’ is available to hear on all platforms now here:
And European fans won’t have long to wait to hear the songs of ‘Sex Is Terrifying’ live either. Next week, Bandaid Brigade are jetting into the UK to begin a nationwide headline tour beginning on 2nd September. Hitting Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings from there, the band will also be supporting Xtra Mile labelmates Skinny Lister at a number of shows across the EU too. Catch the band at these dates as follows:
