Releases Music Video for “Cry Me A River”
Taken From Eagerly-Awaited Live at the Bon Soir album
Today, the music video for Barbra Streisand’s “Cry Me A River,” from her highly-anticipated new album Live at the Bon Soir, was released. You can stream the song on all digital streaming platforms HERE.
“Cry Me a River” was released as a single in tandem with the announcement of Live at the Bon Soir. Though there is no filmed footage of Barbra performing “Cry Me a River” at the Bon Soir, director Matt Amato created a fantasy performance of the song using still photos filmed with a live audience and an actress portraying Barbra, who is silhouetted against the audience. This allows viewers to experience the ambience of the Bon Soir nightclub from Barbra’s perspective.
Matt Amato also directed the lyric videos to Barbra’s rendition of the Randy Newman song “I Think It’s Going To Rain Today” featured on her Release Me album, and her duet with Willie Nelson “I’d Want It To Be You” from Release Me 2.
With the release of Barbra Streisand – Live At The Bon Soir, her first album since 2021’s Release Me 2 (a career-spanning compilation of rare and previously unreleased recordings), Columbia Records celebrates Barbra Streisand’s 60th anniversary with the label. She is the only artist–solo or group–to have charted #1 albums across six consecutive decades (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s).
Live at the Bon Soir is available Friday, November 4 through Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. The album was originally intended to be Barbra’s debut album for the label, but was eventually shelved in favor of 1963’s The Barbra Streisand Album. Now, 60 years later, fans can experience Barbra’s legendary appearances at the famed Greenwich Village haunt, The Bon Soir, through this newly remastered recording.
