BBC Introducing returns in October 2022 with a stellar line up. London Lexington plays host, welcoming three new artists breaking through in their field. Morgan, Debbie and Victor Ray will all perform on Thursday 6th October.
These events are a chance to see the next big thing before everyone else. BBC Introducing nights have previously hosted performances from Sam Fender, Wet Leg, The Lathums and many more.
Morgan’s impressive entrance into the music industry came as she joined Rudimental as one of their vocalists on their world tour at just 18 years old, featuring on their song ‘Be the One’ alongside Digga D, released in 2020 and has garnered over 25 million streams. Recently, she went viral on TikTok with a song that she wrote when she was just 16. Propelled by the platform, ‘ADCT’ is a stunning single that was given a new lease of life thanks to social-media on release. The track flew to the #1 spot on both the TikTok Trending Sounds chart and the UK Top 50. Over on DSPs, ‘ADCT’ has accumulated over 9 million streams across the board, as well over 3 million YouTube views.
It’s hard to believe that Debbie wasn’t allowed to listen to music (apart from gospel) until she was about 16 years old. But, the fact she was raised in the church comes as no surprise. Raised on a restricted musical diet of Mary Mary and Kirk Franklin, the way music flows out of her makes her seem like a seasoned veteran: from her reflective but effortlessly relatable lyricism to her rich, resounding voice and her spiritual curiosity, she’s a careful blend of refreshingly new and intimately familiar.
Victor Ray is the sensational 22 year old singer, songwriter, acclaimed for singing at well-known locations around London. Having amassed a large online following over the last 12 months, Victor will unleash his first release in October. Championed by artists as diverse as Cee-Lo Green, Mahalia, Shontelle, Mario and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 2022 promises to be a very exciting year for this young, prodigious talent.
