Staking their claim to be one of the next big things in the UK, Birmingham four-piece BIG IMAGE have launched with the euphoric anthem PARALLEL LOVE AFFAIR. With smart and world-weary lyricism, and arms-around-shoulders sentiment, the single presents itself as transformative pop for the masses.
Dropping with visuals that play out like a gripping TV drama, the band storm out of the gate with this fresh new project, displaying a potent narrative and intoxicating party aesthetic on an indie dancefloor track for the ages.
Singer George Johnson says about the new single: “It’s the most exciting and anthemic track we’ve written to date; it’s the biggest we’ve sounded,” whilst bassist Luke Morris adds: “This song is paving the way for what’s to come from us; it’s explosive, exciting and pure groove.
Discussing the song’s inventive storytelling and the context in which it came to life, Luke continues: “Lyrically the song was inspired by a lockdown divorce that a friend was going through. The first verse is based on what I was hearing from him but, naturally, there’s always two sides to every story, so I based the second verse on what I thought her side of the story was.”
BIG IMAGE celebrated their rebirth with a recent sold-out launch party at the intimate Birmingham Sunflower Lounge, fittingly the first venue they ever played together, which became a real moment for old and new fans alike.
ABOUT BIG IMAGE
Birmingham four-piece BIG IMAGE – George, vocals; Luke, bass; Connor, guitar; and Seb, drums –
Combine the reverb-drenched piano of house, the propulsive breakbeats of drum and bass, and the bubbling buoyancy of baggy to create a cocktail sound that is entirely theirs.
The band were previously known under the name IVORY WAVE and have already built a considerable live following through festival appearances and support slots with the likes of DMA’S, The Sherlocks and The Twang. The sudden pause in touring last year led to an opportunity to refocus, rebrand, and hone their sound into something altogether more ambitious for 2021 and beyond.
With a debut EP on the horizon and an album in mind for summer 2022, BIG IMAGE is ready to reach anyone and everyone with an exciting array of unifying Saturday night anthems.
