ANOTHER TASTE OF THE ESSEX TRIO’S SELF

TITLED DEBUT ALBUM – COMING LATER THIS YEAR

JUST ANNOUNCED FOR READING AND LEEDS

FESTIVALS THIS AUGUST

Bilk have revealed another taste of their self-titled debut album with ‘Hummus and Pitta’

The self-confessed “Brit rap rock” trio are back at their frenzied best, showcasing a blend of Mike Skinner-style colloquial lyrics, a determined, racing drumbeat and punk-inspired, jagged guitars, as they detail the highs and lows of the Great British Night Out.

Speaking about the track vocalist and guitarist Sol Abrahams says, “I wrote ‘Hummus and Pitta’ after a period of going out and partying a lot. In a society that tries to hold us down constantly, I think the best way to protest is to have as much of a laugh as possible. No one looks back when they’re older and remembers the nights they got plenty of sleep, you know what I mean?”

The new single follows a triumphant string of live shows in 2022, playing well-received shows at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton and supporting fan of the band, and former One Direction member, Louis Tomlinson on his UK arena tour, as well as heading out on their own successful headline tour around the UK in April. Just announced, the band will also appear this summer at Reading & Leeds, hitting the BBC Introducing stage on Friday 26th August at Reading Festival and Saturday 27th at Leeds Festival.

Their recently announced debut album (landing later this year) will be the first full body of work from Bilk since the ‘Allow It’ EP last year – six songs that predominantly blend rapturous pop punk with engaging rap, in a frenetic and frenzied display. And now ‘Bilk’ looks set to evidence even more of their appetising, unique sound.

Bilk have already earned an impressive live reputation themselves after being recognised by Clash Magazine who tipped the band as 1 of 6 “must see” acts from over 400 names on The Great Escape festival line up last year. During the campaign for their ‘Allow It’ EP received extensive radio support from Radio X’s John Kennedy, as well as a spot on the XS Manchester evening playlist. BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music have also supported the band, with DJs Lauren LaverneSteve Lamacq and Tom Robinson all getting on board with the tracks too.

‘Hummus and Pitta’ is out now via Scruff Of The Neck.

About BilkReflecting on the highs and lows of British youth culture today, Bilk are three musicians creating a unique angsty blend of indie, rap and punk from the suburbs of Essex, UK. The brainchild of frontman Sol Abrahams, completed by bassist Luke Hare and drummer Harry Gray, their honest social commentary is as real as it gets, and found them a new fan in One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson – who invited the band to open up for him at Crystal Palace Bowl. Their raucous live shows are becoming a thing of cult legend amongst a new generation of music fans, resulting in chaos at venues across the UK and now overseas.
