Today, Monday 13th November, electronic duo BON – who are comprised of Yerosha Windrich and Alex Morris – release their new single, ‘Haze’, FEAT. Lucinda Chua. It is the third single taken from their upcoming album, The Emotion Industry, following the release of ‘Pilot’ and ‘Data Point Dolly’The Emotion Industry is set for release on Friday 24th November via AWAL, and there will also be a full length visual for the album released on this day.

On ‘Haze’, BON and Lucinda Chua combine and demonstrate their refined artistic prowess as they take listeners on an immersive, experimental escapade which utilises a cornucopia of electronic soundscapes that allow the listener to submerge themselves into BON’s world. Lucinda’s haunting cello and erhu provide additional layers of depth and textures to BON’s exquisite production, adorning the track with an ethereal quality and making it almost tactile. It is an indication of what is to come on their new project, as BON are poised to release one of the most thought-provoking and compelling albums of the year.

Alongside the single, BON have released a music video for ‘Haze’ in which they collaborated with choreographer and dance practitioner Donna Kim, who within the video perfectly captures the tracks essence with her mesmerising dance. The video is available to watch below.

Speaking about ‘Haze’, BON state: “For this piece we wanted to explore the dream space of idealism that lives between real and online experience. For the visuals we collaborated with choreographer and dance practitioner Donna Kim who performs an intimate portrait rooted in magic surrealism, flitting between the shadow self and the ‘real’ self. The video portrays a fantasy dream world of fragmented spaces real and imagined, some existing in the real world and some only in a mental space.”

Speaking about ‘Haze’Lucinda Chua states: “Over the years we have known each other, it’s been an honour to work with collaborators & friends BON. Their studio has always been an emotionally supportive testing ground, to experiment and explore new concepts and ideas; not just sonically but philosophically. I am delighted to make my erhu debut on this beautifully cinematic composition.”

Speaking about The Emotion Industry, Bon state: “There’s an unfathomable power to blur reality as we know it. The ability to discern what’s real and what’s not is becoming increasingly difficult – social media super computers using data points to push your buttons for manufacturing consent, Ai articles and deep fake images add to the illusion. The ability to really ‘see’ the objective reality of what’s been created is the new enlightenment”

BON – a collaborative effort between Yerosha Windrich and Alex Morris – are an experimental music production duo based in London. Their philosophy is to create art in the spirit of inclusiveness, be it social, sexual or racial, with the utmost respect for personal sovereignty. The philosophy grew out of a desire to support the ‘other’. Both coming from mixed race heritage, yet rooted in the UK, BON explores counterculture, the perception of what music means and stands for in society, and looks at reflecting the melting pot that sits between and on the edge of genre.

The Emotion Industry by Bon Music Vision is a follow-up to their 2021 ambient album, Pantheon, which was dubbed “A modern Classical Masterclass” by Electronic Music Magazine. It also follows ‘First Sight’, their 2022 Sci-fi EP release with Akiko Haruna which gained the attention of Tom Ravenscroft on BBC Radio. BON have contributed to projects on Warp RecordsHyperdub Records4AD, and upcoming projects on True Panther and Transgressive records, as well as having their works synched on McQ (Alexander McQueen) and HBO’s Euphoria. BON have participated in NYU’s Critical Sonic Practice Symposium Elegy, held by Professor Leila Adu and features discussion on a range of topics from music practice, theory, history, and political activeness. The symposium was run alongside Jason KingIsabelia Herrera, and Dr Kwami Coleman, to name but a few.
