Brògeal have today released their brand-new single ‘Fly Away’. It follows ‘Girl From NYC’ as the second single from the group’s forthcoming new EP. ‘Fly Away’ is a soaring, anthemic track from the Falkirk-five piece. It’s the biggest, most ambitious track to date, one that pushes the ever-developing Brògeal sound to new places, whilst highlighting their expressive, melodic qualities.
The band explain the track –
“We’re finally ready for everyone to hear the new tune ‘Fly Away’. We believe it pushes new boundaries of the Brògeal sound- so it’s very exciting. It’s a rose tinted and polite way of telling someone to fuck off x It sprang from a jam in the practice room, we knew it could sound massive so we worked on it and harnessed that energy.
Brògeal will be heading out on tour with The Mary Wallopers this month, the second time they have been on the road with the Irish band. They will also be playing a headline show in Glasgow on Friday 29th March at King Tut’s, whilst they’ll be appearing at The Great Escape in Brighton in May as well as supporting The Wolfe Tones in July for their last ever London performance at Finsbury Park. Forming in Falkirk out of the ashes of high school bands, Brògeal came together over their love of Scottish and Irish folk music, punk and garage rock, adding banjo and mandolin to electric guitars, finding their own unique voice on the way. As lockdown hit in 2020 they were able to focus and develop their songs, socially-distanced in the back garden under a leaking gazebo and hit upon what is now the Brògeal sound.
The last twelve months has seen the band emerge as one of the best live bands in the UK. They started their own club night in Falkirk and this grew and grew, with bands from all over Scotland coming to play. Eventually they moved to Glasgow and have a now famous residency at McChuills that continues today. Alongside a heavy gig schedule across the country, support slots with The Mary Wallopers, The Lathums and Spector have seen Brògeal emerge as a thrilling proposition live whose reputation continues to blossom. Bringing folk, rock and indie fans together, they relish playing live, their chemistry and rousing anthems-in-waiting combine to create a communal atmosphere that captures hearts and minds everywhere they go.
