Before reaching Europe, the band will be playing a stretch of high-profile shows in the U.S. including a headline summer tour kicking off August 1st, a stop at Lollapalooza on August 4th, and a coveted opening slot supporting Vampire Weekend.
The duo, comprised of Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion are also treating fans to a unique vinyl package of To the Ghosts, available for pre-order today. Pressed on 180-Gram Black Vinyl, the offering will be available in various colours including “Crystal Blue Vinyl”, “Pinkurple Vinyl” and “Green Onion Vinyl”. The package includes a gatefold jacket, printed inner sleeve, and a limited-edition autographed Zoetrope turntable slipmat.
Upon announcing the release of To the Ghosts, the band’s welcome return with their first new music in two years has seen support from the likes of The Telegraph, CLASH, DORK, The Line of Best Fit and more.
Cults have released two new tracks from the forthcoming record Left My Keys and “Crybaby.”. Akin to light piercing a dark corner, Cults’ temper shadowy cinematic soundscapes with flickering melodic singalongs. To the Ghosts crystalizes this sonic texture and displays their uncanny ability to balance alternative sonic architecture with unassuming pop songcraft.
To the Ghosts was meticulously crafted; the earliest ideas dated back to the pandemic when they wrote music on weekdays from 10am-5pm with no deadlines or distractions. The album was written and recorded in Brian’s apartment; in 2022 they traveled to Los Angeles to collaborate with longtime producer and trusted creative confidant Shane Stoneback, because “nobody can read our minds like he can,” jests Madeline. To the Ghosts was co-produced by Cults & Shane Stoneback, mixed by John Congleton, and mastered by Heba Kadry NYC.
ABOUT CULTS
With over 1.5 billion streams and over 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Cults have built a world anchored by four acclaimed albums, and a distinct, mesmerising sound. True outliers, they persist as the rare phenomenon equally comfortable collaborating with The Weeknd, rap titan J. Cole on his 6x-platinum smash “She Knows,” and maverick indie director Jim Jarmusch. Simultaneously, they’re a dynamic presence that’s just as at home on stage at Coachella as they are supporting The Pixies and Vampire Weekend. All the while, their music has surged through popular television series and films. The staple “Always Forever” reached RIAA platinum status, and the track “Gilded Lily” endured as a phenomenon. It took TikTok by storm with 200K-plus “creates” in 2022 and notched a gold certification. They’ve co-written with everyone from G-Eazy to Freddie Gibbs, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and graced the bills of major festivals such as Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and more.
