Scottish rock icons Texas and Simple Minds will bring their unmistakable sounds to Lincolnshire next summer when they both headline Live at Lincoln Castle.
Texas will make their castle debut on Sunday June 15, while Simple Minds will head to the castle on Saturday June 28.
Tickets to both shows go on sale at 9am Friday (Oct 4) from lincolncastle.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk
The headlining shows are the first to be announced to take place in the stunning grounds of Lincoln Castle next summer as part of an ongoing partnership with Lincolnshire County Council and Live Nation promoters Cuffe and Taylor – one of the UK’s leading promoters of live music, theatre, and events – to bring world class artists to perform in this outstanding historic location.
This year saw the partnership present Live at Lincoln Castle for the first time with headliner shows from Crowded House, Paloma Faith, Kaiser Chiefs, Madness, Jess Glynne and Gregory Porter.
And now summer 2025 is kicking off with the announcement that both Texas and Simple Minds will conquer Lincoln.
Following on from their critically acclaimed sold-out UK arena tour, Texas will be bringing their popular, crowd loving live show to Live at Lincoln Castle on Sunday June 15.
Fronted by Sharleen Spiteri, Texas will showcase five decades of music from the worldwide classic I Don’t Want A Lover to the modern-day hits of Mr Haze and Keep on Talking.
With more than 40 million albums sold, their songs continue to resonate with fans across the world including the ever popular Say What You Want, Summer Son and Inner Smile.
Headlining on Saturday June 28 is Simple Minds – one of the most successful bands to ever come from the UK, selling more than 60 million records worldwide and having number one singles on both sides of the Atlantic.
Demand to see them perform such iconic hits as Promised You a Miracle, Glittering Prize, Someone Somewhere in Summertime, Waterfront, Alive and Kicking, Sanctify Yourself and Don’t You Forget About Me has grown year on year, with the band consistently acclaimed as one of the best live bands of their generation.
Over the past decade the band – Jim Kerr (vocals), Charlie Burchill (guitars, keyboards), Gordy Goudie (acoustic guitar), Ged Grimes (bass), Cherisse Osei (drums), Sarah Brown (vocals), and recent addition to the band Erik Ljunggren (keys) – have rekindled the magic that made them a vital artistic force in their early days.
The band’s 2015 album Big Music was described by MOJO magazine as “their best album in 30 years”, and 2018’s Walk Between Worlds saw Simple Minds play their largest US tour to date while 2022’s Direction Of The Heart gave the band another Top Five album in the UK.
Cuffe and Taylor promoter Mark Harrison said: “What a brilliant way to kick off our plans for 2025 announcing not one, but two big headliners. Both Texas and Simple Minds are absolute icons of music who present the most incredible live shows time and time again, and we can’t wait to welcome them to Live at Lincoln Castle.
“We’ve had a great first year presenting concerts in this iconic setting and we’re looking forward to bringing even more brilliant performers to Lincoln for another fantastic summer of live music.”
Cllr Lindsey Cawrey, executive councillor for culture at Lincolnshire County Council, welcomed the return of the concert series. She said: “We’re so excited to have Live at Lincoln Castle returning for summer 2025. It’s a chance for even more visitors to experience world-class live music in this completely unique environment, and for us to show off our fantastic castle and wonderful city to these giants of the entertainment world.
“What a start for next year’s line-up already: Texas and Simple Minds! I can’t wait to see which other big names we’ll be welcoming for Live at Lincoln Castle 2025.”
