A SUNSHINE-FUELLED STATEMENT OF INTENT
Good Scott has emerged with huge new single ‘Sorry Not Sorry (ft. St Luna)’
Formerly known as Kwassa, Good Scott is the new project of Scott Verrill, with the acclaimed artist/producer using this moniker to explore exciting new angles within his remarkable musical talents. Previously a writer and producer for huge talent, this project is all about stepping out of the shadows and bringing himself to the fore.
Unafraid to push the boundaries of alternative-pop, Verill brings a commendably wide range of influences into play to craft something entirely unique yet peppered with elements of warm familiarity, like catching up with an old friend.
‘Sorry Not Sorry (ft. St Luna)’ is the first piece of music to come from Good Scott in 2022, and sets the tone for what promises to be a huge year for the Londoner. Effortlessly catchy and talkative vocals combine with layers of upbeat instrumentation, breakbeat drums and glorious production flourishes to create one of those rare songs that you want to have on repeat all summer, finding new nuances on each listen.
Speaking about ‘Sorry Not Sorry’, Good Scott said: “‘Sorry Not Sorry’ was the breakthrough from a year or so of writing and nothing clicking – I’d been doing a lot of writing / production on other projects and whilst being able to jump around different genres is my favourite thing ever, it made it pretty hard to settle on what my sound for this project was going to be.
When me and Luke (st luna) started making the track, it fell into place pretty fast – and felt like one of the first songs I’d made recently that I would’ve listened to anyway if I’d stumbled across it. At the time I was just craving a break from sad boy culture and desperate to make something tongue in cheek and a bit silly. Fun lyrics combined with the hints of breakbeat / early 2000’s vibes in the drums is something I wanna keep in the rest of the tracks coming.’’
‘Sorry Not Sorry’ is the first single to be taken from a forthcoming wider project from Good Scott, more information will be revealed in due course.
