LA-based pop trailblazer Grace Gaustad has shared their emotive new single and video ‘Disappear’
The track, which brings a much needed awareness to suicide prevention, comes alongside a cinematic video that sees Grace and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Mariska Hargitay poised as angelic figures, in an awe-inspiring church. the first screen shares the link to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and closes with the National Suicide Prevention
Lifeline.
‘Disappear’ is taken from Grace’s forthcoming multimedia concept album PILLBX: whts ur fantasy?, which will culminate this summer in an epic cinematic film, due June 2nd. Each track from the album is being released like an episodic mini-series and you can watch the album trailer here.
Grace’s new single is an incredibly moving pop ballad, understated with atmospheric electronics that paint an ethereal picture. Beautifully paired with soul-stirring lyrics, Grace says of the track: “‘Disappear’ is a song that makes the whole world stop for the 3 minutes and 31 seconds you’re listening to it. So many people struggle with chronic depression, anxiety, and trauma, and unfortunately for many people, sometimes they struggle to see the light at the end of the tunnel resulting in the unimaginable. ‘Disappear’ is the most heart-wrenching song I have ever written, but at the same time, it’s the song I am the most proud of. I hope that ‘Disappear’ is able to bring tremendous awareness to suicide prevention, causes, and how we as a society can create a safer world for everyone involved.”
Following up their 2021 debut album BLKBX: wht r u hding?, Grace Gaustad’s new album PILLBX: whts ur fantasy? is a 13 track linear continuation of their journey through young adulthood, exposing the collective mental anguish young adults feel today and the multiple different realities our lives could take if history had been different. PILLBX: whts ur fantasy? features a curated list of floor banging dance tracks, pop anthems destined to be classics, and hauntingly devastating ballads that are sure to be timeless favourites, The Line of Best Fit earlier this year said the album sees Grace “push sonic and storytelling boundaries alike, embracing the pure thrill of exploring honest self-expression.”
