HONESTY, the genre-defying Leeds collective, today drop their latest single, “WWWWW?”, the last reveal before their much anticipated debut album, U R HERE, is released this week on 7 February 2025 via Partisan Records. You can pre-save/order the album here.
“WWWWW?” (Who, What, Where, Why, When?) captures the feeling of being at the very start of something whilst the complexities of modern life unfold – a notion reflected by monochrome flowers budding and blooming over the track in the group’s acclaimed live show.
Speaking on the track, vocalist George Mitchell says: “This song feels like a meditation on the nature of truth, the complexity of desire, and the uncertainty of the world, all unfolding with a forward sense of movement—like I’m both lost and finding my way at once. It’s written with a restless energy, reflecting a time where truth and lies blur together, making us all question what’s truly real. Anchored by the album name U R HERE, WWWWW? becomes my mantra to embrace the chaos of the present moment. It captures the tension between seeking meaning and surrendering to the unknown. WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHY, WHEN? But then again, everything I just said could be a lie too…”
“WWWWW?” follows the release of “TORMENTOR”, a live favourite for the band known for its anthemic energy and immersive A/V presentation, as well as the track remix by Big Ever, which strips it back to its pulsing, hypnotic grooves. The collective has also dropped the euphoric “MEASURE ME” ft Softlizard, which has earned praise from The Needle Drop, The Guardian’s Alexis Petridis, BBC Radio 6 Music, and Apple Music 1, and “NO RIGHT 2 LOVE” ft Liam Bailey, a soulful, poetic single that makes oblique references to the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, Black Lives Matter, and social inequality.
HONESTY is not a band in the traditional sense. The collective, founded by George Mitchell, Matt Peel, Josh Lewis, and Imi Marston, thrives on collaboration, bringing in diverse voices and artists such as Kosi Tydes, Softlizard, Rarelyalways, Florence Shaw, and Liam Bailey. Their ethos is built around self-expression and breaking boundaries—both sonically and visually.
Their upcoming debut album, U R HERE, blends influences from Mount Kimbie, My Bloody Valentine, Björk, and Burial, offering a deeply introspective yet electrifying take on club music. The album explores the psychological effects of modern life while embracing the freedom that comes with self-discovery and new beginnings. It’s an album that captures the essence of both chaos and possibility in a world that often feels on the edge.
Since their debut single in September 2023, HONESTY has garnered widespread attention, with features in Rolling Stone UK, Loud & Quiet, So Young, The Line of Best Fit, and support from NME, Crack, and Brooklyn Vegan. Their music has been championed on BBC Radio 6 Music and beyond, with the band also being mentioned as one of their ones to watch for 2025. The past 12 months have seen HONESTY build a foundational audience through the release of their first EP, WHERE R U, alongside the experimental mixtape BOX, which was recently nominated for Best Independent EP/Mixtape at the AIM Awards.
Following their recent UK tour, including standout performances in London and Leeds, HONESTY continues to captivate audiences with their exhilarating live shows and A/V performances, showcased recently at Brighton’s Mutations Festival.
Celebrating the record’s release, HONESTY will also be throwing a free album release party on 15 February at Leeds Belgrave Music Hall featuring support/DJ sets from Turnspit and White Flowers. They will also play Dublin’s Workmans Club (Borderline Festival) this month, before bringing their striking performance on tour supporting bdrmm in March with a show at London’s Electric Ballroom on 19 March.
