Faroese punks Joe & The Shitboys are riding high off the back of their new album release, revealing their next London headline show today.
Presented by The Great Escape festival and adding to the previously announced UK tour for Independent Venue Week 2022, the band will be joined by MEMES and The Byker Grove Fan Club for a huge Saturday night show at Moth Club, Hackney, on 5th February.
The four-piece return after making a big impact on their long-awaited first appearance in the UK this September, and now make a significant step up from their debut London show at Old Blue Last – which saw them collaborate with drag artist Ash Kenazi in a memorable night of flamboyant chaos.
In November they also released their second (10min long) album, titled ‘The Reson For Hardcore Vibes (Again)‘ via Faroese label Tutl Records. After widespread support and rave reviews from UK press, this week the singles ‘Pull The Trigger‘ and ‘Kill Your Darlings‘ were played out by Iggy Pop on his BBC Radio 6 Music show, whilst ‘Save The Planet You Dumb Shit‘ landed them their first cover on Spotify’s Queercore playlist.
With a live show like no other, the Joe & The Shitboys experience is one that needs to be seen to be believed. Revered as highlights at a range of showcase festivals already, including Iceland Airwaves, Eurosonic, Left of the Dial and more, they also performed for The Great Escape Online this year as part of the Faroe Music Export showcase. To mark the news, all the footage is being released on YouTube today, which also features sets from Faroe artists Marius D.C. and Greta Svabo Bech.
