Kid Brunswick shares ‘The Fall : Part 1’
Out now via Believe
Live at Omeara on 22nd May
Kid Brunswick has shared his new EP ‘The Fall: Part 1’ EP, out now via Believe.
‘The Fall: Part 1’ is the start of a new era for west London-based Kid Brunswick, the sound of an artist bursting open his horizons. This body of work is representative of the artist he sees himself as in 2023, daring, ambitious and imaginative with its mix of trap beats, spiky riffs, experimentation and razor-sharp melodic hooks. His worldview was shaped by teen years listening to both Nirvana and Linkin Park as well as hip-hop trailblazers PartyNextDoor and Majid Jordan from the OVO Sound scene in Canada. Brunswick’s sonic vision imagines a place where hip-hop, R&B and rock are perfectly intertwined.
The EP comes alongside the video for the new single ‘Depression’, a sprawling, epic track that pulls together everything that Kid Brunswick is right now. He explains the track –
“I started writing this song in 2020 during the pandemic. The original version was going to be my first single under Kid Brunswick, however I pulled it back and decided to work on the song a little more, because for a song titled “depression”, I wanted to pay more attention to the lyrics.
“Lyrically & melodically, this track has 3 sections; Chaos, Euphoria & Death.
I wrote this song to explain the process of what happens when someone who is mentally ill can experience when they’re not receiving the right treatment. I’ve lost friends to suicide. I know what not wanting to be here feels like. I just thought it would be cool if I opened up lyrically and spoke to people who feel the same way.”
Previous single ‘Heaven Without You’ comes with the frenetic intensity of rock and the wild creativity of hip-hop, whilst ‘Blow’ the comeback single at the beginning of the year is a about trying to “escape the chaos” according to Kid Brunswick.
