RELEASE BLISSFUL NEW SINGLE
‘HEADLANDS’
HOTLY-TIPPED TRIO CONFIRMED TO SUPPORT BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AT BST ON 8TH JULY
GEORGE EZRA & DERMOT KENNEDY SUPPORT SLOTS ALSO CONFIRMED THIS SUMMER
Rising Irish indie-folk band Kingfishr have today released their joyous new single ‘Headlands’, out on B-Unique Records. .
There is a rhythmic tone to the track, with the cinematic quality to their sound once again on display. From the low burr of Eddie’s vocals, that builds alongside the steady picking of the acoustic guitar, to the increasingly powerful euphoric synth that is layered throughout, all combining to create a joyous finale.
‘Headlands’ is Kingfishr’s fifth offering and follows previously released “Anyway”, which has racked up close to 150k streams in the weeks since its release. It was also among the tracks performed at The Independent’s live music session Music Box last month. The band has an exciting summer ahead supporting Bruce Springsteen at BST, as well as support slots on George Ezra’s UK & Ireland tour & Dermot Kennedy’s Limerick shows at Thomond Park. Alongside this are a run of festival dates that include Neighbourhood, Sea Sessions, Lytham Festival, Latitude & The Indie-pendence. They have also appeared on BBC Introducing Belfast and recently performed on Irish TV Series Other Voices.
Speaking on the new song Eddie (vocals/ guitar) said “’Headlands is about conflict and to a lesser extent, greed. The consequences of which reach out beyond the people immediately involved. They sweep out over relationships and trickle down between the cracks. It’s a universal idea. The fallout from choices past generations made years ago are all around us, we just don’t often take the time to pay attention to them.’”
The band are set to play British Summer Time’s (BST) 10th anniversary festival on July 8th this summer. They will appear on the line-up alongside world-famous rock legend Bruce Springsteen. Speaking ahead of the show, the band said “There’s no way to describe the feeling, the scale of the whole thing is just too massive. The impact Bruce has had on music is nearly just as difficult to grasp. So to think we’ll be playing to the same crowd is totally overwhelming. We’re so grateful for the opportunity, we’re going to play our hearts out. I don’t think we’ve ever been so excited for anything in our lives”.
