After a long wait, Koe Wetzel finally started his 2024 Damn Near Normal World Tour Saturday, July 27th, at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas.
Koe Wetzel and his band opened for Morgan Wallen at Cowboys Stadium the night before. Yours truly was in attendance for both shows, and all I can say is that KOE is the best version of Koe to date.
On Saturday night, Koilton Moore and The Clever Few delivered an unforgettable performance at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion, showcasing his remarkable talent and stage presence. There’s no denying that Koe Wetzel is my favorite artist, and he’s been my favorite for some time. Seeing him open up for Morgan Wallen the night before, I was ready to watch Koe and the band start their new tour. Their show the night before was epic, but I had a feeling Saturday night was going to be even more epic. Hell yeah, I was right. Koe took the stage and kicked the fans in the teeth with one of their new songs, “Twister” off their new record, 9 Lives. This new album gives us a different look at Koe and focuses more on his storytelling and writing. It’s different, it’s smooth, it’s rock, it’s country, it’s, R&B, it’s… Koe.
Koe Wetzel’s concert was nothing short of epic, setting a new benchmark for what a live performance can be. From the moment Wetzel took the stage, it was clear that this wasn’t just another gig; it was an event that would be remembered for years to come. The energy was electric, with Wetzel’s commanding presence and charismatic performance instantly grabbing the crowd’s attention. Each song was delivered with raw intensity and authenticity, captivating the audience and making every moment feel personal and profound.
The sound and lighting production at the concert only amplified the experience, although it is a hard show to photograph as a photographer. The smoke and the deep red, blue, and purple lighting made it a little hard to photograph, but I was up for the challenge!
Wetzel’s band was in top form, creating a wall of sound that was both powerful and precise. Fans sang along to every song played from, “Something to Talk About,” “Money Spent,” “Good Die Young,”, my favorite, “Kuntry & Wistern,” “Fuss & Fight,” and even new tune like “Damn Near Normal,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “High Road.” It was evident that every detail was meticulously planned to create an immersive and unforgettable show. I’ve seen many Koe shows, and this was THE KOE SHOW.
Wetzel’s interaction with the crowd further elevated the performance, and off-handed comments made the Koe show a true Koe Show. His genuine connection and shit-talking banter create a sense of badassness and excitement. Whether he was sharing anecdotes between songs or engaging with his fans directly, Wetzel’s down-to-earth nature made the concert feel like a shared experience rather than just a performance. The audience’s enthusiastic response was a testament to how effectively Wetzel and his band bridged the gap between artist and fans, turning the evening into a complete ass-kicking show.
As the concert drew to a close, it was clear that we just witnessed the new Koe Wetzel. The powerful blend of his heartfelt lyrics, unrelenting energy, and top-notch production made the night truly unforgettable. Leaving the venue, it was hard not to feel like we had just experienced something extraordinary, a concert that set a new standard for what a live show could be and solidified Wetzel’s place as a powerhouse performer.

Hi!
I’m Jalys. Music and concert photographer located in Austin, TX. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Photocommunications. Pretty cool, right? An Instagram degree before Instagram was cool!
I enjoy traveling around Texas, and taking photos of bands and musicians. Texas has so many awesome venues, and I want to photograph any that I can. Music has always been a major part of my life, and while a student at Texas Tech, I knew that I wanted to specialize in music photography. I have lived in the Austin area for over twelve years and have been able to photograph so many cool bands. Let’s add yours to the list!
When I’m not photographing, I’m probably working at my day job as a University Recruiter for a manufacturing facility. I travel quite often for work and love visiting college campuses! I enjoy hanging out with my husband, our 3 dogs (Ryder, Carter, and Tucker), our adopted cat, Allie, and our families. Follow me on Instagram! You will get to see all the pet photos you can stomach.
