Following on from the announcement of her Ribena EP, KYE is back with her latest single, ‘Heavy Love’ featuring singer songwriter Budjerah.
A perfect blend of pop, R&B and afrobeat influences, ‘Heavy Love’ has long been a crowd favourite in KYE’s live show, now with the addition of one of Australia’s most talented vocalists, Budjerah. Together, their innate vocal compatibility and mind-blowing harmonies are all encompassing, shining a spotlight on two of the nation’s most talented vocalists. Driven by body-moving percussion and melodies, ‘Heavy Love’ propels KYE further into pop stardom.
KYE on the single: “I’m so excited to finally be releasing ‘Heavy Love’ as it’s been a crowd favourite in my live set for some time now. It’s been at the top of my list to work with Budjerah and his vocals have made this track really special. We recorded it on my birthday in the Byron Hinterlands and the meeting of our voices really blew our minds. Our running joke is that it’s our version of Jordan Sparks’ ‘No Air’”.
Budjerah on the single: “KYE is one of my favourite artists at the moment and I just had to sing with her. The track has so much bounce too and a beat that just makes me want to move. I had an easy time saying yes to this.”
‘Heavy Love’ arrives as the final taster of KYE’s forthcoming sophomore EP, Ribena, out Friday May 26. Also featuring previous singles, ‘Bossin’’, ‘Clique’ and title track ‘Ribena’, KYE has continuously delivered infectiously feel-good singles, all with the intention to have fun and celebrate joy at every opportunity. Speaking on the EP, KYE says “I initially really poured over what I wanted the message of my sophomore EP to be before landing on the idea that I didn’t need to say anything particularly profound. What I wanted was for people to dance and to experience this chapter in my life with me where I am prioritising joy and pleasure. It’s often neglected but essential to be able to let yourself feel free. Whether you’re dancing in the living room or out with your friends I made this to be your soundtrack.”
A seasoned and captivating performer, KYE has been enamoring audiences across Australia over the past twelve months. Since the beginning of 2023, she has toured with For The Love across all dates and performed as part of Genesis Owusu’s Black Dog Band for his WOMADELAIDE and Red Bull Symphonic shows. In 2022, she packed-out Club Bossin’ shows, supported iconic trio TLC, joined Joey Bada$$ for his triple j Like A Version and dazzled audiences during the 2022 ARIA tribute to Olivia Newton-John alongside Tones And I, Natalie Imbruglia and Peking Duk.

My life is a soundtrack, i track my life through music, photography is my passion, my escape, my expression. Without both i have pieces missing, thankfully i’m blessed and get to combine both.
Born in Manchester, lived in Australia for 22 years where i was heavily involved in the Australian Music Industry, firstly in bands (Singer) and then managing bands (all original), I moved back to the UK, Wales specifically 10 years ago and married my childhood sweetheart and life is good.
