HER FIRST ALBUM IN 7 YEARS
‘Nurture’ is the latest single to be released from While Your Heart’s Still Beating, La Grange’s first album in over 7 years which is out Friday (21st January).
October saw the indie pop icon make a gorgeous return with the stunning ‘Set You Free’ (a reworking of the N-Trance classic), ushering in a new era for the indie pop icon. What followed was ‘Neverland’, an ode to not growing up that effortlessly encapsulated her time away from the spotlight with resonant lyrical work and immersive instrumentation.
Today see’s the release of ‘Nurture’, her final single from the record and arguably her most personal track to date. Detailing the ups and downs of relationships since childhood, the track showcases Kyla’s remarkable ability to harness emotion and turn it into something truly relatable. The visuals for the single echo this sentiment, showing her at various stages of her life up until present day, shining a light on the different phases we adopt throughout the years in a heartfelt, emotional manner.
Speaking about ‘Nurture’, Kyla La Grange said: “Nurture is the most personal song I’ve ever written, a storybook of relationships, from childhood to adulthood. I nearly didn’t record it because it made me cry too much, and I was scared to release it because it feels so raw and exposing, but something about the writing of it felt very necessary for me, like it was a way of paying tribute to certain things and then closing a door on them, putting them to bed.”
Making waves throughout the 2010’s with the critically acclaimed albums Ashes (2012) and Cut Your Teeth (2014) the singer/songwriter was one of the defining voices of her era, acquiring fans from the likes of The Guardian, The Observer, The Independent, NME, The Line of Best Fit and countless others.
Making a stunning return with what promises to be one of the defining records of 2022, While Your Heart’s Still Beating is undoubtedly Kyla’s most forward thinking songwriting to date, a truly incredible insight into the emotional rollercoaster of your 30’s and returning to the creative mindset.
